and missturbation?  the only time i get unhappy by trying to read others' descritiptions of "how things are" is when (a) they try to paint everyone with the same brush or (b) are so odd in the description that i have no blinkin clue what it is they're trying to say and have to read a page and a half of clarification to get to the meat of the subject.

and that includes me doing it, too.  [:)]

I am surprised at how wound up people get over stuff. Yeh, I don't think of BDSM as dark per se, I wouldn't describe my own brand as such certainly, but if you want to do otherwise, heck go right ahead. I'm not into scat, but if you are, I don't care. I'm certainly not going to allude to you bring or outright label you a sick fuck.

Words have meanings and connotations. If you use a word that makes me roll my eyes, then I'm less likely to take your post seriously unless you already have a posting history that makes me take you seriously.

But if some 19 y.o. masteruberlord/darkeviltwiste posts, I'm likely to laugh and jeer and move on, even if he actually had a serious question buried inside the post.

When it comes to daily social interactions, no not really much at all.

But this is a discussion forum, not a general social interaction chit chat forum.  It would be as inappropriate for someone to start tossing out cookie recipes in this forum as it would be for me to go to a baking chatroom and start wanting discussions on the nuances of slavery.

That doesn't mean recipes or slavery isn't important to any particular person in their own life- simply that there's a time and a place.  For me, in my personal life and my personal relationships, actually yes those definitions do matter to me, yes it is important for me to understand how my partner defines dominance for himself, whether "dark" is something he feels prioritizes in his kink or not and all that.

i see two very good reasons why people feel the need to whine...

#1.  they haven't got beaten and/or fucked in a while

#2.  they haven't got to beat and/or fuck in a while

oh yeah, there is another one i forgot...

#3.  they're over-whelmed from being surrounded by idiots[;)]

That last one made Me laugh, so now I'm having trouble being serious.

I do think there is a fourth reason though.  To specify, they are passionate about what they believe.  That makes them neither right or wrong, but there is generally a reason for them to think the way they do.  I know for Myself that I tend to fit in this category most often (ok, sometimes I fit into the second category, too) and I can be quite opinionated on My views.

As LA said, this is, after all, a discussion forum.  If everyone kept their opinions to themselves, and all we ever did was agree with each other, we'd probably grow bored very quickly.
