Crackheads use piece of a spark plug to break a side car window. It works better then a rock as seen here.

So a crackhead is going to go to all the trouble to steal a spark plug...then go to even more trouble to then break it apart to get the ceramic off.
Just to throw it at your car window for...a couple of quarters?
I'm not a crackhead but I think a rock would work just as nice.
Even my foot as far as that goes.

If it is sharp and can be driven with enough force to breach the integrity of the glass, it can break glass.  Spark plugs can be found lying around behind Pep Boys on a daily basis, and crack heads have nervous energy to work off - so YES - they do break windows with spark plugs.  But in typical crack head style - they break a wndow on one side not realizing there is a broken windown on the other side and the radio is already long gone.

And some people do it just cause it's fun. Happened to us when we lived in Texas. All the cars on our street had the windows busted out by spark plugs one night. It was a teen prank done while driving down the road and them hanging out the window.

lol...so let's not discriminate against the crack heads... they're not the only ones doing this.

The hardness of ceramic vs that of glass in the side door plays an insignificant part in the equation I would have thought. The fact the brick bounced off is probably more due to the fact the larger surface area of the brick making contact with the glass spread the load over a greater area creating a deflection that didn't exceed the elastic range of the material at any point. Compared with the tiny surface area of the spark plug ceramic which concentrated all the load at a single point. In any case the glass in side doors is intentionally made to shatter into small cubes to aid escape through the window if a mangled door frame won't open. Try doing the same trick with a windscreen no chance. This is how safety glass behaves before which you would have faced razor sharp large shards if the glass broke.

Yes- and one day there will be competittion maybe in the olypics as to who can break faster. lol.

I am always concerned about my tires getting sliced.  If someone scratched the car- I can still drive it.
