skimpytacowoman -> Emails that make no sense (7/25/2008 7:27:43 PM)

I did a search and couldn't find anything related to this, although I'm sure something's out there so please, if you know of a link just send it my way instead of filling up the forum here.

Anyway, I keep getting emails from people who talk in elaborate, somewhat cryptic ways. One was very fond of one liner emails and when I told him I had no idea what he was trying to get at and he needed to just spit it out, he wished me a good day and good bye. So question is, what's a good way of telling someone that I'm not going to assume I know what they're talking about and if they're not going to just come out and say it, then they should leave me alone? Politely I mean. Frustration is my enemy here, and this is happening a lot. I figure it's a bunch of people just playing games but I don't see any filters that stop "pompus idiots".

don't respond. seriously.

christine1 -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/25/2008 8:03:24 PM)

i get those all the time...maybe they think it's some kind of intelligence test or something.  i usually respond with something confusing back and they usually leave me alone afterward.

chamberqueen -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/25/2008 9:16:10 PM)

You could always say something like, "I guess I'm just not clever enough to continue our email conversations".  It would let them know that you can't understand what they are saying, and by taking the "blame" yourself, even if said sarcastically, you can take the pressure off of them.

*nodding*

I do this.  It's satisifying and it makes them stop.  And if they don't stop, it's like being in a David Lynch movie for free.

I dont see anything wrong with saying "I am sorry, but I cant getat what it is you are trying to tell me. Come out and say it, all at once please."
If they cant take that sort of response... are they really much of a loss anyway?

I usually send the Thanks but No Thanks, then if they perssist (sp) I send the sorry I'm invovled. Seems to work.

Live life and enjoy

Welcome to the wonderful world of random spam and nonsense. Block, ignore, delete and find other people who make sense to you.

DesFIP -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/25/2008 10:21:44 PM)

I had a series of them years ago. My only response was that I was already taken but good luck in his search. He kept sending me cryptic and rather creepy emails. The Man happened to look over my shoulder when I got the last one, ordered me out of the room, and responded. I imagine his response was less than polite but it ended it.

At the time I hadn't figured out the block button, these days I would just use that.

sirsholly -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/26/2008 6:07:10 AM)

i generally respond and ask then to tell me a great deal more.
Hopefully after they have typed their fingers blue they find they are blocked.

idiot messages deserve a sarcastic and short reply or no reply back.

that's what i do especially when receiving marriage proposals and long winded prose of "love at first sight"

however the ever popular "delete, block, ignore" works too

Lynnxz -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/26/2008 7:17:53 AM)

I don't respond. Ever.... unless I happen to be bored and it's a particuarly good one, like demanding that I come live in their trailer to be 'daddy's little breeding cow'

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/26/2008 7:53:52 AM)

Moo Lynn. Has a nice ring to it

You could always got for a snarkier comment like "When you make sense, I'll let you know if im interested"
or "I'll get back to you when Ive finished my translation."

"Could be you need someone like me to own and trainyou.  Why not jump in and become my slave girl to serve me?"
This was the beginning of my 2nd email on this site yesterday.  Yes, I am new to the dating thing, but what happened to hello, let's get to know each other??
Is there a dating refresher course?  Or is this just one of the many HNG mails I need to expect?  I'm saving the best to either blog or write a book on.

most idiot mails get no response from me at all...the odd one has me playing *sport* with the writer...but recently I was frustrated by a sender who would write "mostly" at some ungodly hour of the morning and then delete his acct from CM so there was no way to respond at all. A few days later there he would be again.. same deal.. delete his acct.
At times he would disappear for a week or 2 and then Bingo.. he would be back.

One night I was reading the forums and it must have shown I was online.. I then had a barrage of emails berating me for not answering his first email of the night ( I only check emails when I log into the site).

I think in the whole time he was writing to me I only managed to catch him online to reply twice.. first time was polite and the second time I let rip and told him how annoying it was to have my email clogged up by someone I couldn't reply to.

I haven't heard from him in about a month so hopefully he has given up.. it was getting a tad creepy though as the last few emails he was writing to me as if I was replying and just playing hard to get
*sigh*

MissSCD -> RE: Emails that make no sense (7/29/2008 7:58:34 AM)

I did a test post once and all it said was the American flag is red, white, and blue.  I got all kinds of responces from that.  That tells you the market in CollarMe.  Some are just flirting.  Some are serious lifers.  Some are jerks.  Some are criminals.  Some will argue just because they can.
It has taken me a long time to get to where I don't engage in confrontation because your feelings will get hurt.
I just got one from a 22 year old in California who wanted to submit to my ever whim.  He would not send a picture because he was really serious.  Go figure that one.  If he had read my profile, he would have seen I am not interested in any relationship now except friends.

Regards, MissSCD

Avatar's like yours are adorable, but yes, you can expect a lot of emails like those with it.  Unfortunately, it's the nature of the beast here.

Glad to be a guy. I don't have these problems.
