I think we'd be ignorant to believe we are the only ones here.  What would make us that superior that we could survive when no one else in the universe has been able to?  Certainly not our superior intellect.

Amen Gloria....

What can I say....I'm always amused by the narrow mindedness and myopic thought patterns contained within collarme.

Anyways.....I believe Mitchell and others who have come forward. And furthermore, I would cite the Brookings Document {Or Brookings report} as clear cut evidence that the PTB would go out of their way to maintain a cloak of secrecy regarding any type of physical evidence, empirical data, etc, that would/could substantiate such claims.

It's kookland..... and anyone who does not believe and/or bow down to state-mandated truth, is an utter kook!!!!

I'll tell ya what....you non-kooks out there : Bernanke and Paulson have told us there's just some minor turbulence ahead - but its going to be safe flying, and everything is going to be alright...So I say keep your money in the banks and smile widely when you get that four percent....[:D]

I'm off to an early matinee with my girlfriend and her son - We're going to purchase tickets and go watch the X-files......

what about those that claim to have encountered other lifeforms.  for example the witness that first happened upon the "balloon" in roswell that had a creature not far from it. he didn't just see one, he saw three.  i always enjoyed his story and he wasn't a crackpot. just a down to earth rancher in NM.  but why should we believe anybody that makes such claims?  because we haven't made it to another planet yet, so anybody that does have an encounter is just either very imaginative or just plain crazy?

i think it is amazing the things that get reported to "proper authorities" and "government officials" and also, how only rags report on such sightings and no reputable media form does.  it's just like the X-Files, not that i am a big fan, because i'm not, the truth is out there.  to discredit somebody because we haven't stepped on another planet with lifeform, does not mean that we aren't visited.

amazing the credibility of those that do come forward and yet it goes unreported to the general public and those few witnesses are asked or threatened into not revealing. their reputations really are then put at stake if they do come forward.

i also love the "military testing" excuses of unusual spacecraft in areas.  that's a good one too.  sometimes legit, some times not.  having lived near military air bases most of my life, i've seen some strange things but no actual "beings".  who knows?  somethings we just aren't meant to know and somethings are just hidden truths.

Ok, how about Buzz Aldrin telling his story?  Apollo 11, just follow the link

sub4hire, you're apparently not comprehending what I wrote.  I watched it, and I've seen this story before.  I've heard lots of stories like this.  But you'll note that Aldrin said, "I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS."  He didn't say it was an alien spacecraft.  It was a UFO or more precisely a UOO (Unidentified Orbiting Object).  It could have been a number of things.  It was UNIDENTIFIED.

sub4hire -> RE: Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker claims alien contact cover-up (7/25/2008 1:24:51 PM)

That's true just like what Ken Mattingly saw on Apollo 16.  Just like what they picked up in the desert in Rosewell, New Mexico.

Just like everything.  You can believe what you wish to believe.  You can't exactly say what a UFO is because it is an Unidentified Flying Object.

Some interesting sites people should familiarize themselves with, would be DisclosureProject.org, NRO.gov, BobLazar.com.  One interesting fact that the public debate (much like the 2-party system) has contained to a polyinstantiated "Creationism vs. Evolution" line of thinking, is that we have been externally genetically modified a number of times; upgraded if you will.  The addition of thumbs or the idea of unique fingerprints are good examples of this.  You might hear some banter about eventually colonizing other planets once we find a suitable planet, now put that in past tense and think of the possibilities.  Pretty stony eh?  It might help to play Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon album while reading up on this stuff.  Remember, to have a healthy debate about all of this stuff (and other topics) is patriotically American.

Rule -> RE: Former NASA astronaut and moon-walker claims alien contact cover-up (7/25/2008 2:26:17 PM)

I have not looked at those websites. I do not trust those websites.

So you have been genetically modified, not so? I guess your big toes have been replaced by thumbs? Weird tale.

Me, I do not have thumbs on my feet. I and other humans evolved with thumbs on our hands, including fingerprints, just like our close relatives the great apes.

Let me first state that I believe that the existence extraterrestrial life is much more likely than the lack of it, and there are decent odds that it will be found in this solar system within the lifetime of people now alive (and based on the load-out on some of the recent and forthcoming Mars missions, possibly quite soon). This is going to be on the level of microbes, though, not "little green men".

As to whether there is other "intelligent" life (according to our definition of that term), well, who knows? Mathematicians like to make arguments about this sort of thing, but the fundamentals boil down to "space is big... REALLY big", and even something quite unlikely should happen more than once with sufficient iterations. So maybe there are other intelligent species out there. I doubt very much anyone on earth knows for certain.

As to whether we have been "visited" (highly unlikely in itself if our understanding of physics is anywhere near correct) and the U.S. (or any other) government has tangible proof of this, I find it EXCEEDINGLY unlikely. We can't know with certainty what the odds of alien life are or what sort of technology they might possess, but we CAN count on human nature, and the fact is, no government on earth behaves in ways suggesting they are aware of any potential external threat. However meager our potential defenses might be, evidence of extraterrestrial life would have led to a massive and rapid militarization of space (probably under the guise of cold war dynamics or some such, but the fact is, it never happened) and efforts to control our emissions profile to reduce our odds of detection (after all, we've spent plenty of money on SETI while making no effort to block our own detection by potential adversaries using similar means).

The Pentagon has a war plan for every conceivable contingency  sitting on a shelf somewhere. The lack of any effort at defense in regards to this makes me figure that even at the highest levels, there's no hard evidence that is making people lose sleep about this.

Oh... and no one ever said that just because you have a PhD you can't be an absolute nut. :)

I can see what happened and why this fellow is so confused. He had just finished filming the moon landing in one studio and mistakenly walked onto the close encounters set.

As for thumbs: yes they exist.[8|]

nutjob,

Yeah he is, or actually he was.  He's dead now.  William Cooper was not only a alien conspiracy buff; he also promoted JFK assassination conspiracy theories, New World Order conspiracy theories, and he was a well known figure in the Militia movement.  He was a fucking nutjob.

I have to agree with Slabeboyforyou on a lot of this. These guys can claim anything they want, but until someone comes up with some concrete evidence, I'm going to remain agnostic about the whole UFO phenomenon.

However, as to the statement about life elsewhere in the 'verse being extremely rare... well... not so much. Some years back, there was a theory published in a book called "Rare Earth" that pretty much said, "We're it, don't even bother looking." But the discoveries about the sheer diversity of life forms on and beneath the Earth's surface has a lot of the scientific community rethinking the possibility. We've found life that thrives in near freezing temps, extremophiles that love the boiling water near volcanic vents, critters that eat rock, even creatures that love cozying up to active reactor cores! It seems to be that life can adapt to anything, so long as it has water and an energy source... and that energy source can be a star, or the planet's own internal heat. In fact, some are wondering if the surface of a planet is really the best place for life to develop in the first place. Since they are now estimating that the biomass of the Earth may actually be greater beneath the surface, than above it, this may mean that life can get started on many, many more worlds than we previously thought possible...

Thank you for that wikipedia link, sbfy. That man Cooper knew the truth - and that was why he was murdered.

So - the technologically advanced aliens are into bdsm - that would explain the bondage, the anal  probes, and even the implants. This would mean that all in the bdsm community are more advanced than those in the vanilla community, and much more likely to be contacted by aliens.

After all, we know the jobs of bondage, and anal probes. No-one can seriously believe that aliens NEED to do multiple anal examinations - they enjoy them, and use us as sex toys.

They haven't come forward to the general communitys because they see that the bdsm community isn't accepted, therefore are aware that they would be not be accepted either. We, as a community, need to work on the general population to be more accepting, so the aliens will show themselves. Lets pull together and bring on the new day!!

On the contrary, there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth recently, when the Chinese followed the US in shooting down "space debris" with a missile.  Space debris?  So they say!

Does anyone know of any convincing UFO stories?  Or why they appear in the press in the summer, when the serious journalists take their kids on holiday?  Is it likely that on their home planet, the "Palladians" drive right across the country, wearing nappies, to confront ex-girlfriends?

Oh yeah, there must be AB aliens, too.
