Oh, but Thad, I have YOU to go back and check the facts for me... now, be a good little GOP bootlicker, and go look up how many times McCain fucked up on referring to countries that no longer exist.. and haven't existed for 30 years. (a basic fact he could have looked up on Google, had he the ability to press the goddamn "connect" button) I'll even give you a hint: it starts with a "C."

Or would you prefer to pull up a Mapquest showing McCain's mythical border between Iraq and Pakistan? (God knows he couldn't)

Or maybe you could do us a favor, and look up for me what month, pre-surge, the Anbar Awakening began... or better yet, find the "facts" behind McCain's claim that it started AFTER the surge... (something NO ONE has been able to find.)

These are all basic facts... and, since you love proving me wrong... off to the internet with you my boy, chop, chop!

Well in the spirit of slinging mud....

Has anybody informed Obama that there are only 50 states?  Or that Sioux City and Sioux Falls are in different states?  How about the fact that he isn't on the Senate Banking committee?

If you wish to have a discussion or debate, lets keep it to the topic at hand....

I can see though that you have some delusion that you are being witty, and choose to keep going for the personal insults, so let me respond to those for just a moment.

First, I am nobody's boy, much less in a position to take orders from the likes of you.  Once you get off your knees perhaps we can have a meaningful discussion of the topics.  Now off with you, perhaps a fem dom type will take pity and put you to some constructive use.

Bipolerber your advocacy for Obama is laudable, your attacking and denigrating of McCain is pathetic and the personal attack on Thadius, though we rarely agree with on the issues IMO, has allways seemed a gentleman,.... is despicable....

Yeah, I caught that.  I even got a laugh out of the goofy campaign tactics of McCain these last couple of days... Campaign ads in 3 Berlins (in the states) yesterday, and the same for various Paris locations today.

mike,

Oh, I suppose you're right. Thad's just trying to keep me honest, after all.

Thad, I apologize for that last round. That was dirty pool on my part. I'll try to keep this on a more civilized level... besides, I'm sure you're getting as tired of the snarky level of the threads overall... (and not just between you and me)

I said it before... I'll be so glad when this election cycle is over. Maybe things won't be getting so uptight on these forums.

Vendaval -> RE: John McCain is more comfortable with sending a telegram than an e-mail. (7/25/2008 10:08:38 PM)

I do not think this is an either/or scenario.  Senator McCain should learn basic computer skills (e-mail, research, maps and directions) and also have face to face conversations with his staff.  Most of the time a POTUS has professional drivers (Secret Service most likely) but they also know how to operate a standard vehicle.

I completely agree, the sometimes it is easy to get into the partisan bickering, and lose sight of the issues.  I enjoy the back and forth, it is just when the target becomes the poster, instead of the post, it becomes even harder to remain civil, for all of us.

I look forward to future discussions with you.

In the interest of always looking on the bright side ... at least if Senator McCain manages to win, we won't have to worry about him spending all his time in the White House surfing porn.

Thad,

Thanks.

You know, thinking about Mikes earlier comments, that I continuously dis McCain, made me realize just how far off the mark I've been getting. I have no problem with McCain as a man, or as a Senator... (Hell, I thought I might have even voted for him in the first run for the office he made.) But something's changed... and it's not just the really crappy stagecraft his team is showing. (although I find that pretty hailarious right now) No, the thing that really bothers me, the thing that really makes me wonder what the hell is going on with him... is the seeming total attitude change. I think I've mentioned this before... but this election cycle, we're seeing an almost complete replay of the mismanagement that Bob Dole had. It wasn't until after that election that Dole seemed to become his old self.
I think, much to McCain's detriment, that the crew of hardliners he's saddled with are advising him to drift away from the "straight talk express" (as one poster said, he used to be considered a RINO) and has now become almost indistinguishable from Bush.

Seriously, I think the guy is being unintentionally shafted by his own party. Perhaps THAT's what the media is picking up on, because they, too, have seen this pattern before.

His age is a concern, but not a great one... his lack of basic technical skills is funny, but not a deal breaker for me either (believe it or not!) No, I think what is really turning me off to his campaign is, that I get the feeling it really isn't HIS campaign, if you take my meaning.

Just an opinion.

bpb,

No worries.

I had to look out the window to see if it was snowing (hell freezing over).  I think I completely agree with you here.  He has drifted away from his straight talk, and that old shoot from the hip tell it how it is persona I admired.  I am sure it is partly the blame of his campaign managers, but I think he feels that in order to compete with the flowery prose of Obama, he can't use his old smile and call the members of the media vultures and idiots, the way he has done for so long.  I think he is also off put a little, because for many years he was credited with being the most open to the media, even with his teasing jabs at them.

Have a great night,
Thadius

What percentage of folks over the age of say 50 are computer literate?

I'm guessing you don't know many grandparents. I've done a lot of volunteer time in the last few years helping grandparents get computers set up so they could get emails with the all important grandkids photos attached. They may not google but they definitely get very email savvy very fast. It's all a matter of motivation.

That was more to my point, many are just now (the last 2 or so years) getting online, and many probably only use it for emails and photos. Plus it is a good excuse to get the grandkids over to fix the darned thing.
