Saw this movie and thought I would comment on it since it's breaking all the records...

First off I want to say that I thought Heath Ledger did a very good job with the role. And the movie was pretty good. But I personally dont think the movie as a whole was as great as it is being hyped up as being. I didnt care much for the story. The film seemed to be trying too hard to create a dark atmosphere and ended up going overboard (and I usually like films with a dark feel to it). And the ending did not satisfy me at all.

I felt 'Batman Begins' was better....

I'd give this a 6.5 out of 10.

I watched it this weekend as well, and pretty much agree.

"Batman Begins" was much better.

I insist on seeing this in Imax but I can't find a seat for at least another week, even though its being screened around the clock.

Anyway, Sir Michael Caine is quoted as saying that Superman is how Americans see themselves and Batman is how the rest of the world sees them.  Interesting thought...

I had that feeling too.

yea there's a reason for that, it is that good. a lot of people i have talked to are going to see it again or have (myself included) and that's just unheard of to me lol

I'm curious, why did it come out a week later in the UK, if almost all of the main contributors to the film are Brits?

I agree cyberdude. I enjoyed it and I thought Heath Ledger was amazing, but the movie itself was just good. Not great. But maybe I was expecting more because of all the hype.

Well, some of the "talent" is British and lots of the film was made here but its a Hollywood film, which usually means that the largest market (US) will secure most prints and publicity.  Blockbusters need a big opening weekend or its all over.

I'm weakening, considering going to a normal auditorium...

~fast reply~

I don't like movies much, which thrills my Sir to no end because he loves them, and he had me go with him to see The Dark Knight (control freak - heh) so that I'd get my head out of my statistics book for a little while. I wasn't expecting much (I tend to watch the clock more than the movie) but ... whoa. What a great movie. At one sudden scene I jumped so much that I wound up showering myself with popcorn.

i thought the movie was great.  see, the purpose of a movie for me is so that i wouldn't have to think at all during the movie.  it did that and had lots of action and explosions to top it off.  lol, so thumbs up for me.

peace out, all!
