..just post that you withdraw said post on that thread.

oh - and on America, the myopic distraction framented media consumer instant shop culture - it takes a while to do this dance.

Try a different approach.

You cant go back with having a bad experience.

Take a deep breath. Get out and about.  You can be online at home.  You should be at the beach-park- musuem.  or even the mall --

I dont know what makes you tick... but there is everything- something for everyone is America.

So- the location you are at or going to- start with the tourist bureau.

Online crap blows over.  It is not a big worry.

"Never a follower....I always do my own thang....usually in a very "Odd" way! "

Refer to the above quote. Why do others' opinions of you matter so much, especially in the forums? You will always encounter new people and sure, the older ones will remain (with long memory, along with your posts) but we're all fallible, we fuck up and I have yet to meet someone who hasn't. I've made some friends through collarme/collarchat, they've taken the time to get to know me and vice versa, thankfully twe have the fortitude to value one another and should we err at some point, we don't take it as an opportunity for one upmanship. What's important to you?

Its not that I am neccessarily worried about the opinions people have of me here on the boards or in life..........but I am trying to correct some stuff that I posted that was not well thought out before I posted them.

Hey I'm used to people and their opinions good or bad.

But it is nice to be liked by your peers.

Having said that I am sure I will survive if I'm not..........I have done so far.

We can't change the past nor can we take back words once spoken (or edit time lapses in this case) all you can do is apologize and move forward. Change how you deal with things today and tomorrow stop stressing over the things done yesterday. People will either forgive or they wont and if they don't perhaps that says somethings about them not you.

Please note that people make new profiles all the time but their personality remains the same. So firstly; you will probably be recognized and identified and secondly; you are likely to keep making the same mistakes that caused the problem to arise in the first place.

The only advantage i can see to delete your profile or change your screen name is that the "view posts" button won't take someone to your old posts, even though the posts will still be there.

Listen, here's what you do, Iain. Read the posts of people who are completely screwed in the head and be thankful that, no matter what you have posted so far, it's nowhere near as off-the-wall as that shit is.

So I have screwed up big time in the eyes of many members........a bit too open with information........

I've spoken with the Mod's about removing one of my posts..........its debatable whether they will agree to do so.....

So I have decided if all else fails to kill off my profile........I can't say it would be any great loss.

I would be interested to know whether my closing my account will remove my posts from the boards or not?

No.

Iain, again?  Seriously?  You could have messaged any of us that have been around a while and asked the question instead of starting another thread that draws attention to the whole mess, OR (and this would have been your best bet) just wait for an answer from a moderator!
Cali

Well look on the bright side... He didnt exactly follow the suggestion I made on the other thread, but he picked up on the term "clusterfuck" and he wrote the mods....  So he kind of took the advice - just skipped over the "quietly without further press releases" part.. LOL

Iain , seriously, does this remind you at all of an American cultural phenomenah known as "Britney's Trainwreck"? Granted, you aren't faking a british accent or creating "up kilt moments" for the papparazzi, but much like a certain lousiana born singer you are doing anything and everything possible to make sure this unfolds on the front page, while getting the maximum possible coverage, for an otherwise private and unremarkable domestic / legal situation that would have been better for all concerned to be handled with discretion...

Oooops, I did it again! Baby One More Time! Gimme more!

i've REALLY REALLY tried to stay out of these drama fests here and mind my own business.....But, is it just me or does anyone else here see the resemblance in Ian's behavior and uhm...well....pinkycandywhatever's behavior?  Would it just be a match made in heaven if we could get the two of them together?

Anything you'd said can be editted away.  It bugs me, personally, when people edit their posts to either remove all data or change important aspects without a note.

In terms of what people have said to you, that's the cost of playing on the internet - digital paper trail.  Personally, I'm quite proud of my trail and would feel flattered if someone tracked it.  Like without regret, so live in a manner that will not cause regret.

I admit that sometimes I edit and forget to add why. Usually it is because I hit the 'OK' button wayyyy before it was ok, sometimes it was because I realized after posting my words were not as clearly organized as I had thought.
Rarely is it to delete or actually change content but that has happened when I thought twice about replying to negativity.

Using a forum like this has taught me to value my words more, I am slower to respond because I want to make sure my POV is clear. I actually like the fact that the 'edit' button fades because it instills clarity and a certain brevity in my posts. I like too that in a way it forces me to face things, it would be awfully easy to open myself up then change my mind and erase it. I like that it stays because I have to be more careful than if I were just speaking to someone.

I dropped my first profile after about a year, not to try and change how I am perceived but because I wanted a different nick.
It is almost always very obvious when someone who has been posting awhile up and changes names without mentioning it. When that happens they tend to lose a bit of validity in my eyes, trying to avoid a mess instead of cleaning or fixing it.

In this case I think it should have been dropped a few threads ago, it is one thing to ask the questions but quite another to continue to bring up the problems involved.

I agree with what you have written, camille.  I also have to applaud the restraint used by others in not responding in kind to what should have remained a very private matter.

I understand what you are saying.  But when people get on the internet and start conversations about how they are going to commit insurance fraud, or at the very least how it's been suggested to them by a friend, I can see how a lot of people may feel compelled to respond.  It speaks to things like honesty and ethics and integrity, things that many feel strongly about.

Please remember that if you only hear one side to a story, it can be a good idea to take that story with a grain of salt.  This gets even more important if the person telling the story does not have much self-control.

I'm not asking you to change your moral compass, but I am asking you to be cautious about judging before the facts are in evidence.  In this particular situation, as long as one party keeps taking the high road and refrains from posting, both sides of the story will never be known.

I'm judging by what is out there.  I'm cool with that.  It's all I have.  It's not like my life is going to come to end because of what people on the internets do.

i suggest you go to the humor section or polls section and post about 100 posts so the post you are worried about is long buried if someone searches your name.  That's about all you can do.
