ORIGINAL: hizgeorgiapeach Yeah, the 182 has the same latches - but most of the folks that I know who own 182s actually take care of their a/c better than that 152 was maintained! LOL Hey some of us are meticulous about maintenence! I never leave the ground with the engine leaking... Especially not antifreeze... If I see any of that pretty green antifreeze on the ground I will conduct a thorough investigation to find the source... LOL Funny little inflight emegency story for ya. I have a thing for tail draggers... Cant help it, always have, always will, you aint a real pilot till you have a tailwheel endorsement in the book. Well as ya know I have an A&P ticket too... So I flew out with a buddy about two years ago to this little grass strip in the asshole of the planet to inspect and buy a cherry 1952 170B that had been sitting on the field since the owner died. It was dirty and neglected but in GORGEOUS mechanical shape. Of course it was years out of annual, and behind on AD's etc but I decided to ferry it anyway on a ferry permit... I went over it carefully, I literalluy spent 4 hours or so checking it new oil, new plugs, pitot static test etc, but the thing I did NOT inspect was the back side of the instrument panel... shortly after I rotated, on climb out, I hit some chop and a fucking mudwasp nest the size of a softball dropped down onto my feet. SHIT! That was one interesting go around, no pattern, no fucking around, did a 180, came straight in against the wind, made the ugliest landing in history, stopped on the grass runway and didnt even taxi off just stopped, bailed, and ran! LOL We had to stay overnight cause I was so nauseous and swollen from the stings I got that I couldnt fly, and that aircraft got the shit bugbombed out of it before we tried again....
