That is NOT how D.B Cooper did it!

Cooper Was on a 727 and left the plane via the Airstair under the tail of the plane.
The AirStair was the only door on a commercial airliner that could be opened in mid flight without previously decompressing the plane, because it was NOT a "plug type" door as you call it..
Most hatches on commercial airliners have to be opened "into the plane, and then turned slightly sideways and pushed outside the plane. The Airstair opened directly outward. Which is why the FAA required the instalation of the cooper vane on 727's to prevent the door from being opened once the plane reached a certian speed (below V1)
