Now this is interesting!  I say good on her for coming up with a common sense answer to a serious problem!

Shes an idiot... Typical pornstar bimbo stupidity. Problematic priests have no interest in the people or acts they would see in legal porn. Note that the priests in all the sex abuse scandals are not molesting strippers or 20 something year old women named Kitten or Bambi... What a pornstar has to offer isnt what the problem priest market is buying....

it's a nice thought, but first of all, goes against the spirit of chastity in the first place, and second of all, likely won't come close to helping the problems these priests have - which require psychological help.

a'ishah.

that they are priests, social workers, employers, policeman, shopkeepers, or whatever isn't the problem, it's that they are pedophiles and it's about abuse of power, and the destruction of innocence ... watching legal porn or even starring in one for any pedophile is not what they seek

Asherdelampyr -> RE: Porn for Priests... (7/18/2008 2:57:46 AM)

I think a lot of it has to do with people forcing themselves against thier own urges, not pedophilia mind, but the basic need that all humans have to procreate... The Church is fighting billions of years of evolution, and its a losing battle. One in which the real casualties are unfortunately children

I agree with this. I think the problem goes away if the church allows priests to date and marry.  We don't hear a lot of horror stories about ministers and reverends, after all.

It is a publicity stunt to further her career.

The problem is not going to be solved by providing more wank material.  The problem is deeper than that.

" the celibacy requirement is not a matter of church doctrine. Rather, it is a discipline only formally imposed on the clergy in 1139, when a church council declared clerical marriage invalid. What the church has banned, the church can restore."http://www.theage.com.au/news/Opinion/Church-will-benefit-if-priests-are-able-to-marry/2005/01/30/1107020254938.html

Sadly, a Catholic pedophile may use the Priesthood as an alternative to the phychological help they need.  They often believe that the disciplines of chastity imposed on a priest, along with the help of Heaven will quell their desires.  As we have seen, this doesn't work.

The problem is, the current discipline of chastity deters Catholic men with more healthy sexual desires from entering the priesthood.  A thousand years ago, entering the priesthood was about the only way a poor family could provide higher education to their sons, but today that is not true.  There are fewer attractive reasons to enter the priesthood and it has become what it is because of that.  There is a serious shortage of priests.  Providing porn is not the answer.  Since celibacy is a church discipline, not doctine, the occassional lapse in celibacy is not a mortal sin.  The problem is that with fewer and fewer men entering seminary, the Church is not screening applicants.  Lifting the marriage ban along with strict psychological screening of seminary applicants is a much better solution.

naturalsin -> RE: Porn for Priests... (7/18/2008 4:01:05 AM)

i find this quite odd, i mean they made their choice when they entered the priesthood, who is she or any other person to interfere?!
as for pedophilia, that is a totally different topic (in my opinion) - porn does not mean all priests are going to run out and do things to children, pedophilia is a sick illness - but an illness all the same. [sm=eeew.gif]

Where is a brick wall so I may point my head towards it at ramming speed?

Priests do not become pedophiles. Pedophiles become priests. Sometimes with good intentions and sometimes with very bad intentions. The same is true of ministers and reverends who are pedophiles and I do hear a lot of horror stories about them. The major difference is the lack of a protective hiearchy allowing a pedophile minister to avoid getting caught for decades.

Not to be vulgar but you cant procreate through anal sex... The colon has no reproductive function at all. Therefore, it has absolutely nothing to do with "the basic need of all humans to procreate". If it did, they would be impregnating fertile adult females....
