TheHeretic -> Cell Phone Popcorn - They Got Us (7/17/2008 8:14:01 PM)

So this viral video went around my office late this afternoon.  Several clips of people sitting around a table, popping kernels of corn with a small array of cell phones.  In a blatant abuse of our employers time and money, we spent well over a man-hour watching the video, and trying it ourselves, without success.  (If anybody should call us on it, we'll claim it was a unity and esprit building exercise.  Besides, it was stressy day, and we all needed a laugh.)

Here is a segment of what we got

You guys don't have a Cheers type of bar with free appetizers during Happy Hour nearby?

LOL we tried it too without effect. HOWEVER, an aircraft weather radar WILL do it ...

Some people have WAAAAAYYYYYY too much time on their hands.....but there's no way I'd ever be able to wait for the WHOLE bag to pop!  I want my popcorn NOW!  I'll stick to the microwave....

(What's worse is that I actually WATCHED the clip!  Boredom is a saaaaad thing!)

From what I "hear" the radar in an EA-6 can fry a Coyote too, but I wouldnt know anything about that. Because well, we never tried anything like that. never. ever. nope.

Actually kind of funny, but I have a plate in my head, some times it will "tingle" before the phone rings.

Some people just have never been in the private sector. I'd fire the lot of them.

Oh there is a guy calling himself the "household hacker' and comes up with all sorts of little experiments, but none of them will actually work.  I saw a video where he claimed that you could run a television off of a 9-volt battery, which was just bullshit.  Televisions are AC, and you can't run it from a DC source without a converter.  You can't just hook up the power prongs to a 9-volt.

I don't know why people find it so amusing to put out these ridiculous little hoaxes.

Fire control radars are also most excellent for this purpose....
