Does anyone else out there in CM Forum land use Skype?

I think it would be cool to chat on Skype sometime ... A conference call with several people. Be kinda fun to put voices with the words.

GreedyTop -> RE: Skype (7/17/2008 7:50:59 PM)

I have it..when I remember to fire it up..LOL

opposingtwilight -> RE: Skype (7/17/2008 7:54:13 PM)

I used to use it for work - the company owners were Brits, but I've since changed companies.  Cool system!

Skype is a wonderful little tool ... but I'm going to fall on the ugly side of the CM forum posters and will keep my ugly mug and tones to myself [:)]

Vendaval -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 12:56:05 AM)

Hey twilight,

There are chatrooms here on CM.  When you log on to your account the menu bar is on the left.  You can start a new chatroom if you do not see one to your liking.

me too. use it pretty much every day to talk to people from here, or from my family o/seas.

hisannabelle -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 2:26:03 AM)

i'm in! i have skype. i use it for arabic class. occasionally it really doesn't like me, though, so it just depends on the day as to whether it'll work. another idea is oovoo - they have webcam and voice conferencing; i don't have a webcam but i'd love to join in voice with anyone :)

pahunkboy -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 5:45:28 AM)

yahoo messageer has voice.

I started to sign up for skype- but then it wanted a debit card, which I am gettting away from due to the bounced check mess.  I am not slick enough to fend off all the surcharges- so I am tuning out.

The software pops up and slowed my computer so I in-installed it.

Lucylastic -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 6:56:52 AM)

ArtCatDom -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 7:36:29 AM)

I didn't think anything could be as bloated, or consume as many resources, as Microsoft products... until I used Skype. It really is a system hogging monster. I use it occasionally, but only because that's where some online discussions that I want to attend are held, not because I've any fondness at all for the product. AIM and Yahoo! Messenger both consume considerably less resources when engaging in voice chat, despite all of their bells and whistles. I understand to a certain measure that is because of Skype's P2P design, but even with the P2P process disabled, Skype still eats an unreasonable amount of processor time. From my point of view, Skype is one of the most undeservedly overhyped pieces of software currently available.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 8:13:19 AM)

no..the land line here has free long distance...to usa/canada...and i doubt i would ever call someone out of north america..since its too far to go and meet them.

if i want to chat with others outside north america i dont need skype..i can use collarme chat room with my mic.  since chances are anyone i would talk to would be from CM anyway.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Skype (7/18/2008 8:49:37 AM)

i have it but rarely use it.
