Ask him what plans he has. If he plans a picnic in a remote spot, then sneakers and jeans. If he plans a trip to the beach, then a bathing suit. You can't know what to pack if you don't know what to expect.

But for downtime, if he has to go into work, whatever you like to do; read, crosswords, knit etc. Something to keep yourself busy so he doesn't have to entertain you.

Lucky thing is he doesn't have to work, and whatever he has planned is a surprise, i'll just nab his clothes again
