the party thing -- went thru something like that. just this past weekend. I asked to people to knock it off. It wont get into what it was. So call the police and hide like i did not? no. but I did so as a neigbor to my place... when the owner asks me if things are good- I can say yeah things are good. [he rents it out] the system here LOVES to have prisoners-etc. then there is popeyes post- where the police cant do anything until there is a crime. funny- I have 1 cousin who is in prison, another who is a police chief in a metro- either one... But being that we are not -the gangs havent taken hold yet- this is the time--- not after. I am glad asked... Ild only have to be wrong once to be permanently harmed.

How about if its a bunch of partying kids and because of your big mouth my teenage child now gets a "underage drinking" or "pot posession" rap that keeps them out of the Naval Academy? Lets suppose Britt and I were making out there and thanks to your astute observations we get a public lewdity charge and because of that she loses her teaching job on the morals clause of the contract... What do you think is going to happen to those new windows you so proudly installed? Want something to write reports about wait till you see the vandalism at your home and car if your community watch burned me or mine on some petty bullshit. When it happens, Ill be down at the gun range with six members of the PD or at a chamber meeting with every businessman in town so Ill have an airtight alibai.... Guess it must be those gangs you pissed off... Think back to kindergarten, what did the other kids do to the tattletale???

PaHunk, D.A.'s right. You have all the "exposure" and none of the protections wearing that orange vest. Now this is just me but if gangs moved into my neighborhood I'd be thinking of two words, "gasoline" "matches." Oh, and "superglue" for the nearby hydrants.

too bad I cant go after that which is taking money out of my pocket. LOL- on my windows... for the most part the town/area DOES work on law and order...when there is a problem is a likely a fight for a girl. DA you post is something to think about. For the summer I would like to continue bike riding. I enjoy that. So -- to summarize- be carefull about sticking neck out- and choose battles carefully. One premise which isnt entirely true is that I obey all laws. I dont. yeah -ild be mad if someone wrecked my stuff. Let me shift the post... I suppose it could be a thing to pick up the girls... I wonder what to wear to pick up [not] girls. of the crime watch sticker i gave out not many put them up. oh well.

Ugh, I hate watches.... Crime watch, Neighborhood watch, they can just go f themselves. They are the nosy little brats in elementary school who went running to the teacher with every chance they got. No one likes a tattletail when they are 4, I don't want to deal with them when I'm 21. I *REFUSE* to move to a neighborhood with a watch. It's all kinds of "Don't park your car here", "Do you have a permit for this", "You aren't allowed to have this kind of grass..." They pester people about the stuff that cops couldn't give a crap about. I went to visit a friend in peachtree city, a notorious little rich-bich town, and got a 'verbal warning' about my car being 'unwashed'. I told him exactly where he and his little orange vest could stick it. On another occasion in Peachtree with the same friend, a fat little crimewatch man tried to say we couldn't have a party, somehow failing to realize the party was on 4 acres of private land, packed with vets and active military... the Lt. Col. that was hosting the party threw him out on his ass. Good luck calling the cops about that. As far as your 'Gang problem'... is it a gang? Or a bunch of kids calling themselves bloods? You might want to check up on that while you are writing a citation for someone having some friends over.

I lived on the petty side of the river- I miss the quiet of it- tho the folks are more sociable on this side.

My friend Deb beat one of them so bad that I dont think he will ever put on the vest again. We were in a beach park, that is supposedly alcohol free... However, we were actually attending a private party at the pavillion where for $25 you can get an alcohol permit to have a keg, open bar etc... The fat old hitler youth wannabe told her she had to leave the park because she had a beer bottle in her hand. She told him to get lost and he tried to physically take the bottle out of her hands. She was like this is a private party, we have a permit and I am a deputy sherrif. He told her "sure you are honey" and then grabbed her and tried to physically escort her from the park... Well she kicked the living piss out of him, and before he knew what happened she was kneeling on his neck handcuffing him because WHOOPS she actually is a Deputy! A good number of the people at that party were police, fire, or EMS as it was an engagement party for the daughter of someone in the Office of Emergency Management. His little attempt at policing the park bought him an ass kicking to remember as well as a Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer charge and she DID identify herself as a deputy before he started manhandling her. From community watch to probationer in one easy fuckup LOL Then earlier this spring there was the brilliant neigborhood watch assholes up in the city that had a run in with HPD Street Narcotics and Vice... Note to people with orange vests, and good intentions not everyone "dealing" or "hooking" is a dealer or a hooker and the police get really really really pissed off when you fuck up their stings.. LOL

We do however have "real gangs" in Houston itself - esp after the Katrina refugees came. About every three or four days there is something on the TV news about a murder they committed or one of them being shot by a cop. Ive never heard a story about them fleeing enmasse for fear of the orange vest crowd LOL.

most the serious criminals are passing thru, with no desire to stay here as there are greener pastures elsewhere. We have what is know as "SUN"drug task force - they do a great job. I will note that 1 or 2 DRs were heavily into drugs. Being that folks here think I put my nose in to trivial things - and is murky on what is and isnt my role- that tells me that the public may not know. It is satisfying when an old lady is more relaxed with me in site. Yet that same old lady will probaly complain that I dont obey all the bike lawys. My family was here over the 4th. My brotherinlaw in regards to my letters to congress said to do things that directly improve my individual life. So he has a point. Some around town ARE more comfortable with the orange vest thing. This is from a generation of a different era... There are a TON of kids on my block. I TALK to them. Ask them how school went etc. I blend in. So when to get older there should not be the friction that can come with that. in fact when i fisrt moved in the code guy was at my door- once the neihbors seen I was interested in fixing my place up, that stopped. the vest thing- hard to be s snitch since by wearing it i dont agree to keep it a secret.... if i see a guy urinating in a lot - do i get involved no- but suppose something was going on, might the mugger wait till i go to the next block? i suppose not if he is draug crazed monster.

im not an expert. I lived in the inner city of Chicago for a while. A gang wanted to scare me., put 6 bullets thru my window. They did not like that I rented to a diverse person. After that I cant say I wanted to live there. Then later I lived next to a mayors mother in a suburb...one would think that was safe. Nope. It was as bad as the city. With all of that I concluded a metro is not right for me. I should note that guys in the ties were as bad as the criminals..... A typical criminal has no interest here. none. But what could change this? dumb stupid, looser woman that date these bad boys and chase prison boys. in a word- "pussy". the population here is 10,000. with 200,000 in 4 counties. frankly Ild be more afraid of stepping on Wies toes. [a big grocery chain] then a few stangler gang thugs that could not stand the heat in NY NJ.....

I think I am in a rut. The summer heat must be it. Ild like to cash out of here and go further north up in the mountains and AWAY from the highway. But I am not going to give away the place. At least the yard is looking good. :-) I see your point DA, the part that does jump out of me is the exposure vs protection ratio. as with nearly everything I do in life- Im sure I will move on to the next phaze. It would be interesting to sit in at trials...we have some duesies...I am sure they do an most places. I know across the river one cant just sit in.... so I am not sure here. Thank you for posting. Your window being shot up doesn't give you any exposure to 'Gangs'- and I seriously doubt you are preventing any kind of crime- on a bicycle, in a brilliant orange vest. It's like a hall monitor or something... they can't DO anything to you, so you ignore the hell out of them when they bother you.

Hi Lynn, I do read every reply and true I dont know gangs. We have a capable police chief so I do think the town is in good hands. By no means am I the petty patrol either. Be that as it may I do enjoy bike riding. It is only a matter of time before I get 'told" about my sloppy bike riding. [you see while the street is for bikes to stay un-injured the sidewalk is used at times.] Im in a rut. In days when I hung at the gay park- the rangers used to pull all sorts of odd tactics. The real police could care less if someone was getting a blow job in the woods. Then the state made a rule that rangers could do more arrest powers... they rotated a batch of these guys who really did not want to do that.... the busted like 33 guys. When I learned it I sent out emails... I never got arrested-- and that bothered the main ranger. lol. After that the park was not the hang out - guys that would go to socialize stopped going as they were affraid of arrrest, name in paper... etc. If you go to that park- are male and alone then you are there for gay sex. That is how it is viewed- by the valley. So that was my hang out for a few years.... then I got tired of the rangers and very few guys came up. Funny the Amish did not have a problem with the gays there. The bible folks did tho. It is hard to defend the gays tho when there are a handfull of 75 year olds that whip out the penis and hang at the park for hours on end...lurking and ducking..... I will consider the above... I tend to go in phazes.... this past April I was doing paid volunteer work per the phone bank per the election. I was let go to to as I heard it, "an awkward situation with a staff member"== what ever that means.. the buddy that hooked me up pretty much knew it was coming... the point is- that for what ever reasons I get into something boldly for a while then move on to the next thing. thats life. Cerainly someone would fight an intruder in the living room differently then on a street corner. in the mean while my stamina and physick have gotten nice from the bicycling a few miles a day. :-) save a horse -ride a bike rider!!! ;-0
