soul2share -> RE: To nap or not to nap (7/9/2008 7:17:45 AM)

I too am an insomniac with a backwards body clock. I can fall asleep, it's the staying asleep that is the problem for me. I've taken Ny-Quil, benedryl, melatonin, OTC sleep aids......I just got a prescription for Rozerem.....The normal dose for me for the NQ is about 3 hefty swallows.....the benedryl, 6 or 7 25mg capsules, melatonin, about 8 5 mg tablets, and right now, I'm doubling the dose of the Rozerem....I'm up to 2 8 mg pills, was prescribed 1......all that will get me is 2-3 hours of sleep, then I'm awake again. I have been addicted to the NQ, back when I worked days in IL.....I demanded to be removed from them after I almost took out myself and 5 other people when I fell asleep behind the wheel on my way home. I'm probably the only person who ever got a dr's note NOT to work days on a permanent basis. Now, I work midnights, I sleep when my body wants to. I don't nap at work...I can't.....I live my schedule on my days off. This has been with me all my life, and even now, it's still frustrating as all hell to lie in bed and look at the ceiling. It's easier not to fight my body rhythms, and do what it wants to do than it is to try to change it to what is considered "normal" for the rest of the world.
