ORIGINAL: nejisty I can't help wondering whatever happened to keeping State and Church seperate. CA spend millions removing or covering crosses on uniforms and buildings. Our children can't recite the Pledge of Allegiance in school because of the phrase In God We Trust, yet is is on our money. Merry Christmas can no longer be said it has to be Happy Holidays. Hohoho is even illegal in the UK now. nejisty In God we trust is not part of the pledge... The pledge is: "I pledge allegience to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands. One nation, under god, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." In Texas they say it every morning and they then have the Texas pledge which is "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allgience to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible" In our school district the day begins with the singing of the National Anthem. Then the US Pledge, followed by the Texas pledge. (and considering how George Strait is a God in Texas come this fall Britt will probably make her students then sing "Ammarillo By Morning" LOL) There is nothing wrong with the pledge or the mention of God in the public schools. I myself am non religious, but such things should be determined by community standards. This is a Christian community, and the school district puts a Christmas tree in every class room. Those who dont like it, are free to live in another district or to send their kids to a nice private school more intune with their personal beliefs... As for the license plates - to each their own. I happen to like the regular Texas plates as they are cool as hell with the cowboy and the space shuttle and the oil rig etc If someone wants to pay extra for any plate more power to them...
