I am not a fan of any kind of filtering or blocking by the site, but I have to admit there's something intriguing about the idea that a person can be limited or penalized if they are blocked by too many people.  No one can have a "gang" mentality if you don't know who else is blocking, and you can only block in RESPONSE to someone contacting you, so why not?  You can't create fake account to get someone penalized, because they can only be penalized by what *they* do. And the penalties can be minor but annoying. Something like if a person gets blocked by 10 different users, they can only send 2 emails a day for a month.   Sure they can create another account, but that does get to be a hassle after some period of time, and if they just are someone who bothers 50 people a day with crap/spam/cut and paste emails they might start to be more careful.  It's kind of the same idea of putting someone on newsgroup moderation if they are trouble makers.

It's always a risk worth taking though for the ones that do.

This is not meant to be a response to anyone in particuliar.  The idea of blacklisting reminds me of the popular kids being bullies in the school.

I don't hold much weight with the "wisdom of the crowd".  It is that thinking that has led to people all over the world being led like sheep to be slaughtered.  The wisdom of the crowd would have kept us from learning that the world was not flat.  It was the wisdom of the crowd that brought an end to the lives of countless numbers of women & the destruction of their families during the Witch trials in Salem & in Europe.

Lastly, I have stuck around this site.  I enjoy being here, in spite of some of the silly emails I get.

I would love to have some filtering and blocking especially here. My reasons are simple...it is a freesite and because of this we should be able to freely block and filter out anyone we wish. I for one, have gotten to the point in which I simply delete. I have never been on a site with so many manipulators, players, dlers, and con artist.

Maybe they should make CM a  paysite. Then again you never know.

.We do have the block feature when someone contacts us.  It works very well, too.  I don't have to use it often, but I do take advantage of it now & again.
