puppen -> Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/3/2008 4:10:28 PM)

Let's start with this.

I have not changed soaps. I am having sex regularly. The condoms used are not different nor old.
HOWEVER...
I shaved the whole shebang yesterday. Which, is usually pretty normal, but I used different cream.

I used a brand new toss-away razor and men's shaving cream, Edge? (It was all we had).

Last night I made relations, and my vagina felt like it was just on fire. I endured the sex, it was good mind you, and then proceded to douse myself in cold water.

Now, today, I'm trying to enjoy some ME-time and my vagina is, again, painfully hot. I can't seem to get wet either. And, NOW, I look down and my right inner labia is swollen!

It doesn't hurt, beyond the normal burn I've been experiencing, but the skin is tight. Best example I can think of is an over-filled water balloon. Very taught, no give to it.

[8|] I'm not looking for jokes here people.
I mean, I'm sure to your imagination it might be comical, but it hurts.

Does anyone have a solution? Am I having an allergic reaction? Should I just put an ice pack on it? Have I just been having too much sex lately? Why for this happen?

I already showered twice today, but soap really, really seems to irritate me...

Did your partner use anything like a sports cream?

sweetwenchie -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/3/2008 4:26:06 PM)

It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction to the Edge shaving cream, but i am no doctor, nor do i play one on tv.   If it were me i would try using a benedryl type of cream, though being very careful not to get any of the cream inside my vagina, perhaps in conjunction with some anti hystamine type of pill.

That is the best i have, hopefully someone here will have far better advice...

Nope. He uses what I tell him to use. [;)]

I don't have any benedryl, or I'd be all for trying that.

Sit in a bath of baking soda and water a cool one you may need to do this twice a day ..more than likely its an allergic reaction and will take time to heal I wouldnt add any creams or lotions powders to that area at all.....Just a cool soak in a tub..also the razor could have done it if its not your regular kind and had only one blade or a strip of something on it...dont use any soap/cleansers there until your all healed

RestrainMebbw -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/3/2008 4:58:31 PM)

I had a friend do something similar but hers was an improper use of nair (she got it to close to the opening).  You can try the benadryl, its what she did and she kept cream on it also.  Hers was pretty bad though, not only did she have the balloon type swelling and sensation but her skin was bright red like an apple.  She finially caved in and went to the doctor who gave her a cream to treat it as a chemical burn and it cleared up in just a few days.  Good luck, and if it doesnt go away please go to the doctor.  I couldnt imagine if it were me...ouch!  *hugs you*

Mya gave you some very good advice.
I also use the Quatro Titanium (for men) razor on myself. It is so sharp, and never effects me like other ones do.
If you can afford to go to the doctor, then they can give you some very good cream to take care of this, as restrain me said.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/3/2008 5:59:22 PM)

i agree - sounds like an allergic reaction. Did he use a condom? It may well be an allergic reaction to the condom - and you don't necessarily need to ever have had a reaction before.  Try the benadryl, and the next time you shave use the edge cream again. If you don't react to that, have sex with a condom againl - if you are ok with that, then you may never find out what you reacted to. C'est la vie.

if it is the condom and it is latex, you might get tested for a latex allergy, so you will know if you need to avoid it.  It can be life threatening.

so, now, did i make you feel better?   hehe.

If you can't/won't see your MD, at least call the National Capital Poison Center.

i wouldn't suggest baking soda... if soap is painful, and soaps are almost always base (ph >neutral), baking soda, which is also base, probably won't help.

If you have any hydrocortisone cream, i'd try that. Otherwise, leave it alone, wash with just plain water for a couple days, and drink a lot of water. If it gets worse, see a doctor. A lot of oddball reactions go away on their own.

i'm not a doctor, but i look at things this way- Your body was happy. You added some unknown variable that made it unhappy. If you don't know what variable that was, then adding more foreign substances could make things worse instead of better. Best thing to do is try to dilute whatever may have caused the problem, and let your body return to normal.

A sad pussy is no laughing matter [:(]

puppen -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/4/2008 7:32:29 AM)

Thank you all for the advice!

I actually got a nasty case of the "I feel siiiiick"s last night, and knocked out.

I'm not swollen anymore today, just still "dry" and painfully hot. I hope this has nothing to do with my period being late. [>:]

I'm going to try the hydrocortisone cream. Last I checked, we had some buried in a box. I'll see if that at least helps the burning. I'm also cutting out any sex until I don't burn anymore.

Looks like I'm sticking to cold, soapless (in that area) showers for a little while.

I really, really appreciate the advice. I hope this clears up. [&o]

Ah, and Blush, I'm goin' and getting me one of those razors. I went with a dollar store toss-away for the first time in my life, and now I'm definately regretting it.

puppen -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/4/2008 10:24:10 AM)

Kay, well, good news.

It's a chemical burn of sorts. It swelled a bit in that particular area because I had cut it and then it got irritated.

Alls well for Puppen!

...Ahem. And not "dry" anymore. [8D]

welikespice -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/6/2008 10:10:11 AM)

reaction to the shaving cream. Will take some time to return to normal.
Use aloevera gel (PURE non alcohol added) or better if you have the plant in your yard cut a stem and use the juice direct.
My wife same issue.

For shaving keep some of the milk shaving lotion, found at rite aide, unless your allergic to milk

Reading this sentence several times, I kept thinking you were using some type of codewords for vaginal flora, and I could NOT figure out what you were implying she do!

Finally, I figured you were still talking about aloe.

I have a dirty mind.

I second the aloe idea, however. It sounds like you just had a bad reaction to the shaving cream. Hopefully it's going away. At the very least, it gives you a good excuse for ice cube play!

batshalom -> RE: Ha-ha okay not fun - Vaginal swelling? (7/9/2008 12:55:10 PM)

It may be a coincidence that you used Edge shave gel, or it could be a reaction to it. If it's not giving you razor-like pain when you pee then we can at least (temporarily) rule out a bladder infection. Vaginitis maybe. Causes swelling and pain. Easily treated with cream.
