dollparts85 -> Erotica. (6/26/2008 10:56:31 PM)

I just ordered "Bound" off B&N the other day with a gift card from a friend for my birthday...I am interested in getting a few other books, but I'm not sure what to get. My best friend has the Anne Rice books...so I'm gonna borrow those at some point...I loved her Vampire series...read it as a teen. hehe Any suggestions? No Domme books, please...

honestly i would avoid the anne rice...i tried to write a paper on them (long story there's a thread kicking around somewhere about it) and i had to give up they were that bad. that being said the anita blake series is my guilty pleasure, so take it with a grain of salt lol.

damn...they're bad? oh wells. hehe

from everyone that i've talked to it's either you love them or you hate them. i fall in the hate camp. she's extremely single minded in her preferences and half the time what she's writing is so unrealistic as to be almost insulting (though like i said i was reading them with the intent on writing an academic paper so my view is sort of skewed but from what i've read on here and other sites about them i'm not alone on that).

maybe I'll like it b/c I've read several of her books in the past and loved them?

fluffyswitch -> RE: Erotica. (6/26/2008 11:11:00 PM)

see  i really liked her non-erotica stuff. just not the erotica. it's sort of like she didn't do all her research, or did the research and then wrote it anyway (that's my personal opinion, i honestly don't remember her stance on it). i would recommend getting a used copy of the first one before you buy all three or borrow it from your friend first.

Have you read Belinda? I loved that book. hehe

Blood and Gold was awesome too...totally inlove with Marius. [:D]

fluffyswitch -> RE: Erotica. (6/26/2008 11:14:23 PM)

lol my  master is reading blood and gold right now. i'm thinking i might steal it from him (or trade it for another one of my horror novels) and rereading it. the lasher sequence was actually my favorite but i'm more into demons/demonology than vampires anyway. oh yeah...i get a kick out of those cheap little paranormal romance novels that you can get everywhere right now. sometimes they can get surprisingly kinky for mainstream romance novels.

Tannie -> RE: Erotica. (6/26/2008 11:15:25 PM)

Belinda was definitely a good book.  I'd recommend the entire "Dark" series by Christine Feehan, and also "Forever and the Night" by Linda Lael Miller.

thanks! *adds to reading list* [:)]

I think I'm gonna re-read Blood and Gold soon...I read it when I was 16...I think...I got it in hard cover hehe so a long time ago!

Is that Lolita (sp?) book any good?

kittinSol -> RE: Erotica. (6/27/2008 5:48:47 AM)

Lolita is a brilliant novel, but its subject makes it impossible to discuss on this board.

Still, here's half of the opening paragraph (the other half is dodgy because of TOS):

"Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta."

~ Nabokov

Under My Master's Wings.....Lauren Wissot
Breaking the Girl.....Kim Corum
Secret Submission.....Dana Hunter
Lisa's Gift.....Mackenzie McKade
His Perfect Submissive.....Alyssa Aaron

Read these if you like a good story line with the erotica.

O, i love this genre.

If you can bear to 'read a story' online, Literotica.com has much amateur-author stuff to offer, as do other web sites.

'The Story of O' by Pauline Reage is available online.

(O hell. I cannot find it in my bookmarks and my Google-Fu is low, but that's where I read it.  Didn't particularly care for it, though.)

This is the result of a search for "Erotica, Books' on amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/Erotica-Genre-Fiction-Literature-Books/b?ie=UTF8&node=10141

Personally, I loved 'Little Birds' and 'The Delta of Venus' by Anais Nin, though I wouldn't call them specifically 'D/s' type erotica.

hehe I'm a member of literotica's forum...have over 40,000 posts XD I'm more into novels than short stories though.

Anything that is written by Emma Holly or Lori Foster is hot. Good plot lines and lots of sex.
