I was reading some stuff unrelated to the life and came upon some information on the Iron Boot, in various cultures, I won't bore anybody with a rehash of what they are, if you found your way here you're net-savvy to look it up if you're curious about them, but my question was has anyone built and used one?  I can see the real potential for danger reading the  accounts, it would be too easy to do real damage to someone if you got over zealous...the next question if you have used one within a scene, how did you use it, to me it's not a sexy kind of device, too active to be something used for warm up and not quite active enough for a main segment of a scene.

goodpet -> RE: the iron boot (6/25/2008 4:52:22 AM)

do you mean the torture device or the weight lifting device.. (Hmm that might be the same thing)

the torture device was a full iron boot, it could be heated or the weight just kept them from moveing around, they would starve if no one brought them food or helped clean them. Ewww...

the weight lifting shoe thing, you strap a set of weights to them..  they could be used with out the weights, be a good trampleing scene.

OK, off to go search for Iron Boot and see if there is another kind out there..

The mideval "iron boot" was used as a miniature iron maiden for the foot itself. Because it was of metal construction, it could be heated until the victim burned, or boiling hot water, or even molten lead would be poured into it, in the hopes of obtaining a "confession" from the victim.

As far as we know, George W. Bush has NOT approved of it's use at American detention camps... yet.

Floggings4You -> RE: the iron boot (6/25/2008 6:29:39 AM)

There were also wooden as well as iron 'boots' designed to crush the foot and/or leg of the accused...

TheHeretic -> RE: the iron boot (6/25/2008 7:18:20 AM)

I just recently saw something on the History Channel where they built and tested one of these.  No heating involved.  The lower legs were placed tightly together, and wooden wedges would be driven between the knees until the victim talked/confessed, or the bones of the lower leg were horribly shattered.

Well whats the hold up! I am going to e-mail my representatives today demanding that it be introduced to Gitmo and the extraordinary rendition sites without delay. We need every weapon we can get in the fight against global terrorism... This sounds like a fantastic technology!

That show has quickly become my favorite, it's called "Surviving History", they make alot of fun toys.

ewwwwww   -  those people were seriously sick!!!!!!!!

and then there was the iron maiden, supposedly lined with spikes to pierce non-vital bits to prolong torture and death.    Sounds more like a man to me, than a maiden.[:'(]

OmegaG -> RE: the iron boot (6/25/2008 9:47:24 AM)

I have a facination with torture devices.  And the Iron Maiden was one of the most publicized.  These guys are checking their facts as much as possible when fabricating the devices.

Right I saw that show which had me down in the library squirreling around to see what the books I have on the Hammerfall said about the iron boot, and what I read was the same basically as the show, though some other books also place the first several posts with different uses/forms as also valid.  Because of the bone-shattering I couldn't imagine myself ever really getting that in love with this, though if you watched the show just a little (non bone shattering) pressure really was enough to make you want to pee your pants but again I couldn't really see it used during a scene...at least to me, I owuld think it would be the wrong kind of pain, (though granted that varies so much from person to person how can anything be called wrong or right)

this thread got moved from general BDSM...which seems strange to me, moving talk about a torture device into off topic, but *shrug* what do I know, I'm new here and still looking for the bathrooms.

yeah, OmegaG, the show was great if you are into that sort of thing, kinda a mythbusters for the perv-set

An alternate involved using the boot to hold the victim's feet to the fire, sometimes to the pont that the foot or feet were literally cooked and the meat fell right off the bone.

Confessions, of course, were the means used to round up more victims...

OK, it is a sign of the times that most of the initial entries for "iron boot" for a Google search turns up video games, Zelda, World of Warcraft and Runescape.

Sanity -> RE: the iron boot (6/25/2008 9:03:02 PM)

Here's a good source of information. Their Spanish Boot is the same thing as what the History Channel is calling an Iron Boot.

These things are so extremely gruesome, and yet so bizarrely fascinating at the same time.

Slavehandsome -> RE: the iron boot (6/28/2008 1:27:06 PM)

Actually, the Iron Boot has in fact been authorized at the Guantanamo Resort and other Gulags.  The practice of holding the feet to the fire until they're cooked and the meat falls off the bone, is one of the things that Donald Rumsfeld included in what Congress approved as "more aggressive techniques".  Some other Greatest Hits from the Cheney & Rumsfeld Ride Again album include "Force Feeding Using Tubes Through The Nose", "Leave 'Em Strapped In That Chair While They Shit Themselves", "Wiping Dirty Tampons On The Koran Then Shoving Them Down Their Throat", "The German Shepherd Testicle Chomp", plus if Congress acts now, they'll also give you "Hanging For Days In Handcuffs".
I only pray that they will be held accountable.

Aside from the resources grab, has there been any progress in this War On Terror?

It evaporates the water used in waterboarding.
