It really depends on what kind of shaping you mean?  And how commited you can be to the reshaping.

*looking in the mirror* Hmmm round IS a shape.. oh sorry..

coeset training  does work in that the pressure on the area casuse the body to change where it stores fatty tissue.
I have heard some good and bad points,
so for your consideration....

1 It does not make the muscel work or tighten up.. it does the holding for you, You don't lose muscel, but they don't strengthen with corsets
2. It takes a long time to work, and should be done with weight loss.
3. The temporary wraps will cause water removal and srink the cells but is temporary.
4. True waist training requires at least 12 hours a day in a properly tailored corset made for tightlacing
5. If you stop wearing the corset for a few days (even after 6-12 months of training) yourr waist will creep back up, maybe to a slightly smaller size than what you started out with, but it will reverse
6. lasting results can takes one to 2 years of of serious, daily wear of the corset.

Hope this helps some..

From google re how to do it and things to consider, I have seen women with freakishly tiny waists from training, but you do have to be careful :D

Corsets can actually rearrange the internal organs.  Whether this is healthy is a matter of intense debate.  You might try to locate a "body modification" or "bodmod" site.

While corsets can make your waistline smaller, as JohnWarren said they rearrange your organs and can make your tummy bigger. They don't make you lose weight or improve muscle....so the "stuff" that gets displaced from the waist area has to go somewhere....the lower abdomen. I recently saw the woman who holds the record for the smallest waist on a tv show. She has a waist that is 14 inches and has attained that through tightlacing. She wears her corset 24 hours a day (except for showering). All of her "stuff" has been displaced to her lower abdomen which made it appear really large and unnatural.

It really does depend on what you are looking for - flat and smooth front?  You won't get that.  Curves ?  Yes.
And it depends on the area and the issue.  If its a mummy tummy kinda thing or fat, it won't help.

Most corset training deals with posture and shaping.  If you improve your posture, your stomach may appear much flatter anyway.  You have had a tuck, but dont say how long ago.  Don't do corset training if its fairly new and get medical advice because muscles will be affected.

It reduces the outside circumference but doesn't 'shape' what is mis-shapen.  You internal organs will be affected and you may find you are unable to eat as much but it's not a good way to lose weight.
Don't buy a corset smaller than you need to make you smaller or tighter.  Buy one that fits you correctly.
I would not suggest 12 hours - 8 hours regularly should be sufficiant but this is not a straight up approach.  Increase the time worn gradually to ease yourself into it like any form of exercise.  You should see results within a couple of months once you have worked into a regular pattern.

Remember that corset training reduces (waist/inches)size and makes the shape hourglass, adjusts posture but wont flatten the stomach so for what you seem to be wanting, it won't help.

to the OP, congrats on losing the weight!  I think to get to where it sounds like you want to be you have a lot of crunches in your future.  do em naked and let it become part of the play ritual with you and your partner.  As the other folks have said corsets have this bad habit of squeezing parts of you were god didn't mean them to go.  every, physical body is different so your results with a corset maybe perfect for you, but since you are going to have to start exersicing (or keep) to keep the weight off anyway just start focusing on your tummy as you do the rest of your workout routine.

and just be realistic in what is achievable, if you were 60 inches at the waist, the chances of anyone getting a super model waist line is pretty, <ahem> slim.  you have come further than most people ever honestly do, now focus on maintaining it so in 10 years you're happy still.

If you had a panneculectomy the surgeon just took off the "flap".
If you had an abdominoplasty he took off the flap and plicated the muscles of the abdomen - that is - put in  sutures into the abdominal muscles to pull them together. Sort of like an internal corset.

If you aren't sure what you had - after your surgery, did it hurt so bad when you sneezed that it would stop you in your tracks? If it did, you had a full abdominoplasty, and your belly should be flat. If it didn't and you still have bulge you may have muscle distatis, inwhich case you could go and have that fixed -ie put in the muscle sutures to pull the muscles together to give you your flat belly.  If distasis is what you have, no amount of crunches, situps or any other form of exercise is going to give you a flat belly.  Sorry.

You actually *do* lose muscle tone there eventually. It's why people who tightlace all the time 'have' to wear a corset when they are out walking around. Their backs don't have the strength to support them any more.

Actually that's not true for everyone, Christina, if you have a BAD back the corset is like a miracle!  But yeah, corsets are fab for body mods, but not for building muscle or actually "flattening" anything.  I love the dang things, but wear them all the time?  No thanks.....it would be like a back brace, and the limited range of movement would be maddening!

OP, I suggest a good girdle.  Rago is a company that makes fabulous ones that you can wear easily under clothing---though make sure no one is filming you getting IN to the thing, because it is just sad and wrong!  The elastic will hold up the squishy bits, and move with you as you continue to lose weight.

Not for everyone, but I've read enough tightlace forums that I have learned if you over-do it, you will lose that muscle. The lady in the Guiness book has.

That Guiness book lady is scary!!  Plus, the added annoyance of ALL you clothes having to be custom made means that dedication is the key to tightlacing.
