the one...and only..time I've played with breath control, the pre-agreed "safe word"
was "open your eyes"
mind you, she was on top of me at the time, so I would feel if she went limp...which is what i was vigilant for...
but the second her eyes opened...
my thumbs came off her trachea

god damn, that was a hot night

I have had success with a quick release knot (the kind used to tie up horses). It is strong enough to hold your sub in place, but as long as she (or he as the situation may be) has access to the lose end a quick tug will release the knot. Safety note: make sure you have practiced with your sub to ensure that a) you are tying the knot correctly & b) the sub is physically capable of tugging the lose end in whatever position you have chosen.

See this link for info: http://www.newrider.com/Starting_Out/Getting_Ready/quick_release_knot.html

Shadow-tiger -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/23/2008 10:25:57 PM)

Just wanted to add that while I've never played with a gagged sub, we've never used a safe word due to issues on her part. Regardless it just made me all the more careful and vigilant for any sign of discomfort or going too far. And it's never happened thankfully. With a more casual relationship or soemthing that's new and shiny I'd want to have safe word as an option. All these posts have been full of great ideas I never thought of before.

That quick release knot is frickin' sweet too.

I find a quick thrust of a switchblade to the fleshy inner thigh of the
Dominant one wishes to garner the attention of, works wonders.

softness,
This is way off topic, but you may have the most alluring pic on collarme.
I've actually been waiting for you to respond to one of my posts so i could say that.

ownedgirlie -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/23/2008 11:32:07 PM)

No safeword here, but my pitch and body reactions change drastically when I think I might be in trouble/danger.

Plus, when he puts the gag in, it's intended to stay in, meaning even if it's a bit loosely fastened, I'm to keep it in my mouth.  There was a time when I spit it out (as much as I could, anyway) in a panic.  I can always find a way to communicate with him, and being pushed to a panic stage is always so powerful in retrospect.

subbisherri -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/24/2008 3:03:42 AM)

Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action. If it's with someone who I don't know well enough to read my nuances and body language, then anything three times. Hands tied together, three claps; three foot stomps; grunts; aggressive rattles of chains; shakes of the head; finger snaps. Three times is a signal.

tkbj -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/24/2008 6:19:42 AM)

A golf or pingpong ball will work. During a session the sub keeps a firm grip of the ball. When he/she wants to use the safeword, he/she can just drop the ball.

Another way is tricky. Actually a gag (esp. a ballgag) can not hold down all the noise a sub makes. Then a rhythm of "ohoh mmm" may work as a combination of safewords.

SweetNika -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/24/2008 7:55:20 AM)

When I can not talk because of a gag or something far more yummy, I use signals whether it is tapping them with my hand or my foot.

I was just thinking... rather then dropping something, to the ground... I would rather use my keys that have a lanyard on it... loop it over their fingers like a yo-yo and let them hold the keys.. if there is a problem...let go of the keys and jiggle the line...it will make alot more noise and is not a One time drop....alot more noticable visually and audibly...

cheers
Skully

warden1978 -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/24/2008 6:26:28 PM)

I have a bit gag. It looks hot (IMO) and I can understand the safeword when my sub says it. best of both worlds

DesFIP -> RE: Gags and safewords? (6/24/2008 6:31:09 PM)

I open and close both hands rapidly if in trouble. If I'm just rotating one hand, or opening one fist slowly, that indicates that that hand is going numb. My wrists, arms are tied, but my hands aren't in mittens.

Some people hold car keys and drop them, or have a small cat toy with a bell inside to make noise.

I wouldn't try humming, but three grunts in a row are a common gag safeword.

I suppose one could use some sort of safe gesture, but that means that at least some of your limbs have to be unrestrained; no fun at all.

I did a full body wrap on Alandra with Duct Tape... and I was much able to watch her body for movements... maybe not the the obvious physical movements.. but.. the left toes moved slightly and the right ones... her breathing was steady.. she could wiggle alittle.. her shoulders could move.

If I needed a gesture to indicate something... I think there is plently of opportunities in many situations.  Unless a person is completely immobile and I mean completely... like in a body cast..... if there is the will there is a way.
