As Carlin once said. "Scratch the skin of a cynic and you will find a dissillusioned  idealist".

For peeps that found Carlin less funny in his maturity, or even see him as a ranting bitter man, please consider this. It happens and is , perhaps, an inevitable process for idealists, particularly active ones, to become more cynical as a result of dissapointments in human nature. It happened to Samuel Clemens and many others. That is not to say that they are not witty cynics. Imo, Carlin was  witty up to the end. Check out some of his last work and have some empathy for  a dissapointed idealist . And remember, he was not just a comedian whose sole purpose was to make us laugh and feel good. He was a satirist and social observer with a bigger goal.

I guess George now finds out of God liked his humor.

Good Luck George. I pray for the best that you get your own personal grand stage in Heaven where all the Catholic Saints will be your audiance.

The worst fate for a cynic is to be proven right.

If you look back, way back in the humor section there was a piece he did somebody posted a link to called "Rape Can Be Funny".

When I first noticed it I thought sure that he was going to piss alot of people off, and thought he might be ruining himself. But after watching it, I found his treatment of the subject brilliant. I was impressed. If someone else doesn't dig it up perhaps I will, I mean it was fucking brilliant. I think even people who have been raped might get a laugh out of it.

And yes, he did have an agenda. Very critical of many of the bad things in the world, and having the ability to put them in a way that did not get him booed off stage. Granted some of his appearances were not all that funny, but sometimes when one gets old and finds that they have an avenue to get some common sense out to the public, they simply can't resist.

I think it was kinda mean of him to ban those '7' dirty words.
