Journey was a band that reached its height of arena rock popularity in the early to mid-1980's.

Journey and Steve Perry parted ways, and ever since, Journey has searched for a replacement frontman.  The first post-Perry replacement, Steve Augeri, seemed a shallow, pale and weak comparison and eventually fell by the wayside after a prolonged throat infection -- probably after taxing his voice in his attempt to replicate Steve Perry.

Jeff Scott Soto replaced Steve Augeri in the middle of Journey's tour but sounded NOTHING like a Journey frontman; there are Journey tribute bands with lead singers who sounded more "Journey" than Jason Scott Soto, who probably only got the gig because he knew Neil Schon (Journey's lead guitarist) from previous collaborations.  As a matter of fact, several of the classic Journey songs performed on tour were done by Deen Castronovo, the band's drummer, because Jeff Scott Soto just couldn't deliver the song quality set by Steve Perry's standard.

I didn't even know Journey was still playing.  I always thought they were lame.  Never the less, the guy does sound like him to me.

just the same way

I always thought that the stories surrounding Schon were interesting.  But I find Steve Perry highly annoying.

Jopurney was a great instrumental jazz fusion band of the mid 70s featuring Ansley Dunbar of Mayall, Beck, Zappa, Bowie et al. fame on drums, and Neal Schon and Greg Rollie of Santana on guitar and keyboard.

I don't know who these guys with the revolving door pretty boy singers are.[:D]

I used to love Journey.... many of my best memories from highschool have Journey (as well as Zep/Alice Cooper/Kiss/and others) as the soundtrack :)

Gotta say... this new kid does a damned good job.

I love Alice Cooper.  Journey?  Welllllll..........let's just say that there was some singing to the radio done in decades past.

I can admit that now, I have no shame.

The guy sounds remarkably similar to Steve Perry but he's not Steve Perry. he looks totally out of place . I like Journey but I liked them best when it was Schon, Perry, Valory, Rolie and Steve Smith. I never was a big Aynsley Dunbar fan. Once Rolie left and was replaced by Jonathan Cain the band went in a different (albeit hugely successful) direction. I liked "Escape" but after that I lost interest. The days of "Walks Like A Lady" were gone.

Definitely - Journey before Steve Perry is the real and true Journey!  [8D]

Seriously though, Of a Lifetime?  Look into the Future?  That's some great stuff.

i heard  their new song on the radio today.  The lead singer is good, but tries to sound like Steve Perry WAAAAY too much.  Schon's guitar was great as always, but Journey has lost their way musically.  The song (i forget the title) wasn't very good.

Hey pretty lady [;)] I've always liked Journey; when Perry went off into "Oh, Sherry" land, it saddened me [8D]
