It's about time that people who do this sort of shit started being held accountable for it.

I liked the comment from one of the readers, who coined the phrase that most fitted the case: "prosecutorial charging frenzy".

Piling on charges for leverage is a standard tactic, hardly new or frenzied.

Must be a slow news day.

He would have to get the maximum on 60 something counts including burglary and conspiracy and fraud, and such, and they would all have to run consecutively, for the thread title to come true.

Seems more likely that he will plea bargain down to a handful and get a much lighter sentence.

Makes sense.

Ever hear of safecrackers who went on to design safes that were harder to crack ?

They might just sit the kid down in a room and say that if he reveals everything and helps make it harder to do in the future that he would get a lighter sentence.

But if he obtained passwords that might not be on the table. The spyware ? So what unless he wrote it.

The almost funny part about it is, if you can do that at age 18, you don't need a good grade.

For one crazy postmodern minute, it occurred to me that the kid should get a pass as a recompense for his entrepreunarial spirit.
