Then, philosophy, you ask the question not jump onto someone with presumptions of superior knowledge like some are in the habit of doing.  And thank you for addressing it without being snarky and self important.  Others could learn from you.

A welfare dependant corporation should go out of business.  A welfare dependant human that can get a job should get off his/her ass and do so.  I see that the welfare system on the whole is abused and wasteful.  You remember the "urban legend" of the welfare mom who used the neighborhood kids to get better benefits?  I always laugh at those who label it false because I've seen it.  Maybe it does or doesn't happen with the easy access we have to computers today.  I don't know.  What I do know is that I've heard people say that it wasn't worth it for them to take a job because welfare paid them more.  People like that are milking the system and need to try being a bit more self sufficient.
Pick up dogshit like DAs guy does but quit sponging off the rest of us.

You do know that welfare is time-limited?

People sidestep time limits and other rules all the time.  Thats the last thing I'm gonna say lest I be accused by some of being a right wing supporter of Bush and Co.'s campaign to eat babies.
While I realize that you could actually discuss this like a human, I don't need the grief from those whose hate for someone seems to make them all knowing authorities on what the rest of us are thinking.  I'm too tired to deal with men made mighty by their keyboards.
Thorn, have a wonderful night.

Ah, the internet! The pot bellied stove at the general store of our times. Where people gather, shoot the shit, and discuss the "state of the union." Except here, the more extreme the position, the more you are heard, and civility usually goes out the window with the first mis-perceived post.

Bush pandered to his base, and gave the uber wealthy a huge pass on taxes for the last eight years. In response, the "captains of industry" moved their jobs overseas. The American Market is huge. Every single country on Earth wants a peice of our potential sales pie. I say fuck the wealthy! (Most of them pay fewer taxes than I do, thanks to "creative accounting." They can pay their fair share, just like I do. What's more, if they have over a certain percentage of workers located overseas, then those products are banned from import. Or, they have to pay a hefty tariff to get them in our boarders. One large enough to erase any profit they may have made by gutting some small miswestern town when they pulled out to go to India, China, or some other third world sweat shop.

See how happy their investors will be when screwing over the American people starts cutting into their dividends. Keep the jobs here. Keep the profits here. Keep the tax revenue flowing into the system that made it possible for these bastards to become rich in the first place.

It not a "Bush" policy, but a Republican policy. Back in 1980 the Republicans made a deal with the Devil: tax deferments payable down the road for political power now. Its one of the most cynical policies I've ever seen enacted, but the Republican leadership knew exactly where most Americans turn a blind eye (the future.)

Social welfare isnt the problem. Hell I work 12 hours a day AND STILL NEED THE ASSISTANCE!!!! Tell me where this is supposed to be not so fucked up?? Tell me where corporate welfare fuckheads can get away with it and single mothers like me cant even pay our rent on 1100 dollars a month. We get the short end of the stick and corporate dickwads get a new mercedes for their wife every other week.
where the fuck is MY mercedes???? Where is my nice house and no worries??? It's not like I'm not trying here. Yes I know there are people who abuse the system, but heres the thing. In Iowa to recieve Rent assistance or section 8 (welfare housing) you either have to be receiving SSI/SSDI or have a job. That way they know your trying. In order to receive food stamops you either must be working but not make more the I think its 1345 for one person a month, or if you are homeless you MUST attend a class on job skills and searches withing the 3 months time limit and have a job within 6.

I say we hang their ass out windows....but...I've a temper..so...maybe hanging isnt the right way to go

Shorty, you can place the blame for that squarely on the likes of "NAFTA", "GATT", "Free Trade" and this rediculous "global economy" crap.
Working people in this country should be making $20-$40 an hour by now.
What Washington and big corporations have done is to reduce the "value" of labor world-wide and put that "skim" in their own GREEDY pockets!

exactly..and as far as finding a new job....I supposedly make 11.40 an hour....

between taxes and union dues...its down to 1140 a month..full friggin time with NO health coverage...

someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE explain to me when the unions even became so broke they cane barely offer workmans comp to those injured???

more importantly...Bush's environmental and energy policies could possibly harm far more than the next President....
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080618/ap_on_go_pr_wh/offshore_oil

especially when we discover alot of the $4.00 /gal gas prices are based on prospecting done by others including oil executives. Why won't he just stop trying to push agendas already????
