Level -> The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 10:55:40 AM)

quote:

WASHINGTON -- Sixteen years after he shook up American politics by launching an impromptu campaign for president, Ross Perot is about to dip a toe back into the public debates. And, yes, he's bringing his charts with him to make his point.

Beginning Sunday, people who go to www.perotcharts.com will find the Dallas billionaire waiting to challenge them on one of his favorite subjects -- the "ruin" he says America is courting with its spendthrift ways.

"We are right at the edge of the cliff," the voice with the unmistakable Texas twang informed me, when I called him the other day to find out about this latest venture. "We can't go on spending money we don't have."

Okay, so this post isn't "just links"..... Perot is right. It's hard to drive a vehicle in the right direction with one's head up one's ass.

Extremely interesting.  Especially the part about Intragovernmental Holdings.

Thanks for sharing this, Level. A former boss of mine worked with Ross at EDS.  He said no matter what people think of the man personally, the man knows business.

Level -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 11:19:14 AM)

Hi owned. I agree, he knows his shit when it comes to business.... I often wonder what he would/could have done as president.

pahunkboy -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 11:39:10 AM)

no one on the train wants to know the train will crash in 10 minutes.

Level -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 11:46:00 AM)

If they're smart, they do, pahunk. Only way to save your ass.

pahunkboy -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 11:50:38 AM)

not really level.  ppl are full of bull.     his charts should be made an issue.  one news caster said the election is american idol.

...did you see my ron paul mattress?    i was giveng away a matress on freecycle. the ppl never came so i put it out...then wrote on it.  1/2 hour later the people picked up the matress.  lol

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 12:31:59 PM)

hes a smart man...i worked for eds for a couple of years when he was still in charge, and the way that company was run was amazing,

i walked the neighborhood gathering signatures for him when he was gonna run for prez.

time will tell, but folks should, at the least, listen to what he has to say.  i mean, he started eds working out of the trunk of his car.  the man can make things happen.

Let's not exagerrate. He was a top IBM salesman when he founded EDS. He worked out of the trunk of his car in much the same way thousands of other salesman did back then. It's equivalent to the frequent flyer salesmen of today.

SeeksOnlyOne -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 12:56:23 PM)

i dont think i am exagerrating.  i heard him speak, saw the passion he has first hand, and heard others speak about him who knew him when.

yes i know the worked for ibm.  but that man worked his ass off.  and he can make things happen.

He certainly made things happen by getting almost 20% of the vote when he ran [;)]

popeye1250 -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 1:09:12 PM)

I voted for Ross Perot in 1992.
This is what I mean when I say we need a "manager" in the W.H. and not a "leader" or "celebrity."
It's pretty bad when the lemmings applaud their candidate for....taking off his jacket.

See that popeye knew we didn't disagree too much.I too cast a ballot for Perot in 1992,after all is said and done felt like I threw away my ballot. No third party candidate has a chance...and that sucks

cyberdude611 -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 2:08:53 PM)

It will get worse because this is a country right now that believes in bailouts, handouts, and entitlements.

Slvemike, debating class rule #3, "never say "never."

Alumbrado -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 2:13:38 PM)

It does suck.

So do the alternatives.

Last mayoral election in Memphis, well over half the voters voted to oust the long term mayor....guess what?  He's still mayor, because the 'anyone but the incumbent' voters split between two of his opponents, leaving him with just enough margin to stay in office.

Perot will siphon off votes from the anti-status quo voters again, along with Nader... It doesn't matter what they may or may not bring to the table, or what accomplishments they proclaim in other arenas,  they are never going to win...
Their egos will likely hand the Republicans the White House on a platter one more time.

slvemike4u -> RE: The Return of Ross Perot (6/15/2008 2:16:54 PM)

Thought I was agreeing not debating

We'd have been paying down our debt for at least 5 of his first 6 terms in office [:D]

(And yepper...I did...and I'd do it again if he even mouthed the words "I'm running")

No 3rd party before Perot had a chance in hell of getting included in the debates.

No 3rd party before Perot had a chance in hell of getting more than 3% of the vote, and as Level indicated, it approached 20%.

My Mom chewed me out for about 20 minutes for "throwing away my vote", and after she spent all that energy, I very calmly explained to her that it was and is my responsability as an American to vote for the best man or woman for the job, regardless of their chances of achieving office, and indeed, as she argued in her original points to me that "I'm voting for the best man that can actually get in...not necessarily the best man", I was finally able to get her to see that indeed...it was her who threw away her vote, not me.

Had more people voted what they knew to be the truth, as opposed to listening to all the blather about "he can't win" or "you're only stripping away votes from so and so, guaranteeing the other so and so will win"....Perot would have won that election, and the one that followed.
