Yes, I've noticed it a bit.
Last year milk went WAY up! Eggs too.

milk, eggs, bread, you name it, it's gone up. as my gramdma would say, "everything from soup to nuts" has gone through the roof. i'm feeding a family of six, with four growing boys, you can imagine our grocery bills! milk alone is anywhere from $3.70 a gallon at the grocery store to $4.20 at the corner market, and that's for 2%. anyone wanna go havers on a cow? lol!

I paid $1.79 for a gallon of whole milk yesterday. But I did notice some other items went up again.

Yes, all of the staples have increased. The flooding in Iowa is going to have long ranging effects since corn is used a vegetable, grain, corn syrup and cattle feed.

You left out how we're using corn to make ethanol to use in gasoline.

By no means is that a complete list of all possible uses of corn. How about popcorn and corn nuts and caramel corn and corn used as packing material and ....

When there are bio fuel stations across interstate trucking lines food shall drop in price , but if it does not happen everything trucked shall rise as the costs are passed on to us the consumers .

I've noticed about a 30% ride across the board. Some haven't went up that high and some stuff has went up higher than that.
30 is a good medium figure.

I don't see the prices ever going down...I guess it is possible.

Everything in a grocery store is moved by truck. As fuel prices increase, so does everything delivered by truck.

Don't count on food prices coming down much this year at all. Vendavall mentioned the floods in Iowa, but Wisconsin, Minnesota and Indiana have had some heavy flooding that will lower the yields of corn and soybeans this fall. The farmers were late getting into the fields this year in Wisconsin because of record snowfalls and a cool wet April and May, and now with all the rain many crops have been damaged or washed away. Farmers in Southern Wisconsin have lost nearly 30% of their crops, with more rain on the way. And it is getting to late to replant. Those that do will have to deal with the high cost of fuel and fertilizer. Also because of the loss of corn dairy farmers are going to have to buy more grain to feed their herds.

Corn prices are expected to top $7.00 bushel, and soybeans $15.00 a bushel.

The rain is going to be a much larger influence on prices than the making ethanol.

Yes, $1.79 at a discount food store.

I typically buy organic whole milk elsewhere, which has ranged from $5.29 to $5.99 this past year. But I just couldn't pass up the $1.79 deal.

Just par for the course I expect prices of food to go up when fuel costs go up, the farmer needs gas to operate equipment, it has to be delivered to a storage facilitary where it is sorted for different used and sold to a middle man to be sold to a grocer so it often has to go thru 2 distributions centers before being transported to the grocery store

... in Canada though the retailers are gouging Canadian they have not brought their prices in line when the Canadian dollars became par with the US $ a year ago so we are paying roughly 30% more for many product for example a GM car built in Canada will cost us roughly $4000 more than it sell for in the US ...worse when it is a Canadian owned company doing the gouging for example in the US the Tim Hortons sells a cup of large coffee for a $1.25 but sells it here for a $1.70, clothing is the same deal add the gas increases and we are taking hard hit across the board on most items we need daily not just food ...those living close to the border are buying most of their essentials in the US including food or going across to buy vehicles the rest just suck it up and tighten the belts since our paychecks are not keeping anywhere near the pace as we buy less and less it will eventually force the retailers to hopefully cut their gouging practice and drop their prices to match closer to the US pirices ...I don't mind playing extra for the gas to ship it here but I don't want to be paying 30% extra for something based on a year old dollar exchange that no longer exists ... even many heavy items it is cheaper buying from the US and paying the shipping to canada than buying from a retailer here

in the US we are blessed by having abundant food available. i shop at a surplus store and aldis. eggs are down to $1.25. milk she meant 1.79 for a 1/2 gal.

i was thinking i still eat better then i did years ago. i recall alot of mac and chease. pork chops for dinner today.

Certainly cost will rise when fuel prices go up. However, if we zoom out from our day to day lives, and look at what's going on around us, it might help to put it into perspective. In 2005 the deal was signed between the Presidents of the U.S, Mexico and Canada to begin taking steps toward the North American Union, which will eventually compete against the Euro. This is an idea which will ultimately benefit global corporations while reducing the power of the 3 soveign governments already in place. In order to arrive at that goal, a number of steps must be taken in order for the taxpayers to need this solution. The pain from the devalued dollar will be a large part of the necessary motivation to move into the NAU. The superhighway that is being built at lightning speed from Canada down to Mexico is slated to open in July 2008. The reason that immigration is such an issue these days, is because a federal acceptance of massive numbers of Mexican immigrants is part of the deal towards the NAU. The group that is primarily responsible for tabling the North American Union is the Council On Foreign Relations, of which, Michelle Obama is the Chicago chapter president. Their rosters look like a who's who in Washington. Do your research on all these things, and then you can zoom back in and pontificate why everything in the whole world is getting more and more expensive.
