Sad news, indeed. RIP.  The anchors are having difficulty with this, according to reports.

wow.  poor guy probably had clogging of the arteries caused by ingesting all the bullshit he's heard from politicians over the years.  i may not have been a fan, but it's a shame he won't be here for the events leading up to and the big show yet to come in november, he probably would have loved it.

That's so sad.

I've always thought very highly of Russert and made a point of watching Meet the Press most Sundays especially after Stephanapoulus took This Week and made it mostly inane drivel.

I always appreciated his clear enthusiasm for journalism and was saddened that Libby tried to accuse him during his trial.

Sad Katy, I am watching the coverage now.
They said he just came back from vactioning in Italy, reported back to work and had a heart
attack at work.
I always admired his zeal on "Meet The Press", you never know when your number is going
to be called.

He was a true talent in every thing he touched.  And in a world where other news people and politicans rip and shred one another... he was respected by most everyone.  Feared in an interview lol... but respected.  That man did it all... amazing!  He will be missed!

They said on the News tonight that he didn't have an enemy in the business!
And both Obama and McCain said that he was "tough but fair."
Can't beat that!

The thing I loved best about Tim Russert was Election 2000. No fancy graphics or charts. One man, one white board and one dry erase marker. That's all he needed. I do not think there was a more influential political journalist nor one who had his finger more closely on the pulse of the events he covered. A shame... he will be missed.
