We are glad that you are well.  if I understand what I have been told, my former farm up there is now on an island.  Apparently every road to it is currently flooded.

Glad that you and your family are safe, LaT.

You Iowans rock !

In my opinion and experience, Midwesterners in general share characteristic qualities of humility , a strong work ethic, and a sense of responsibility toward their neighbors and communities.

And, goddamn, they  make some fine pies.

Best wishes to you all.

I'll agree on the pies.  I noticed a distinct ability in the people up there to pull together in times of trouble.  Many of them won't talk to you at any other time, but they show up when the shit hits the fan.

     i have been wondering about my CM friends from Iowa, i breathed a sigh of relief when i saw a few of you on the boards. i will definately keep you in my prayers. Thankfully, one of my friends from Iowa is safely here in FL, so now we only have to pray for no hurricanes this month.

Subtee...should you be in need of shelter, i think it's pretty safe to say HK would oblige...hugs to you. And for you:

The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls
The tide rises, the tide falls,
The twilight darkens, the curlew calls;
Along the sea-sands damp and brown
The traveller hastens toward the town,
 And the tide rises, the tide falls.

Darkness settles on roofs and walls,
But the sea, the sea in the darkness calls;
The little waves, with their soft, white hands,
Efface the footprints in the sands,
 And the tide rises, the tide falls.

The morning breaks; the steeds in their stalls
Stamp and neigh, as the hostler calls;
The day returns, but nevermore
Returns the traveller to the shore,
 And the tide rises, the tide falls.

yeah, that's pretty safe to say. At least for the next twenty or thirty years, anyway. [;)]

SubTee and LaT, thank you so much for sharing.

I was wondering how our CM members are doing
in Iowa.
I am glad that you and your families have survived and I am
sorry for the losses you have suffered.

My prayers go out to all that are suffering from the extreme new
weather patterns.
I am watching the weather channel and 400 blocks are still under water
and this is historic flooding.

Vendaval -> RE: Iowans (6/14/2008 1:12:08 PM)

Glad that everyone's families are safe.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you folks in the Mid West.

yaya.....someone FINALLY asked how we are....My family is ok aside from some destroyed material things....and a car.....its not even the fact that we lost them that makes us so angry its that we cant get there just yet to estimate damage...luckily renters insurance with flood coverage covers everything even the car....

I am holding up ok and swim to work everyday...lol
No but I do have to take the most obnoxious route to work with about 65 other assholes in a rush to get there.... [8|]

Thank You for asking....

I am watching the coverage and the clean up in Iowa.
I can't imagine the massive, loss and devastation you all are going through.
I hope your home is salvagable.
My prayers are with you all.
