His abrupt retirement is what has the media focused on him, but yeah, 83 is 83, and I hope he's at peace, whatever the deal is.

I'm glad to hear Paul Newman isn't ill after all.

A great actor, a humanitarian and a class act. One of the things I admire Paul and  his wife, Joanne Woodward, for is their 45 year marriage. One of the very few Hollywood couples whose love and relationship has withstood the test of time.

hear, hear, Cj ..

So he isn't ill?  That's great!

PanthersMom -> RE: Paul Newman (6/11/2008 2:17:40 PM)

you don't hear much about paul and joanne, they're not the publicity hounds some folks in hollywood are.  just nice normal folks who happened to be very successful at what they did for a living and had some fun along the way.  when something does come up and they're mentioned, that tends to get ppl's attention.  it's hard to believe he's 83, i still think of him as i knew him all those years ago, young and healthy and so good looking in his racing duds.

We don't know if he's ill or not, I don't believe. I hope he isn't.

He's 83 years old for fuck's sake.  The guy wants to retire, and the tabloids just can't let him go.  I don't even see why this would be a story.  They call him a former chain smoker and try to make it into a tragedy.  How the hell is dying at age 83 a tragedy?

*strikes my zippo to light another Winson*  Living to age 83 ain't nothing to cry about.

Impeccable logic.....as usual.
The story sells "things" and gives the bleeding hearts something more to "feel touchy feely" about

What sad news, Level.

Patrick Swazye is also terminally ill, with pancreatic cancer.

It's difficult to experience these losses as a fan.  i can only imagine what their families are going through.

Yeah, but Paul Newman would be a major loss.
I've heard the name "Patrick Swayzye" before but you'd have to point him out to me.

Popeye1250,

You might check out the following URL for Patrick Swayze:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000664/

People largely associate Patick Swayze with the films Dirty Dancing and Ghost

Swayze's photos, biographical information, and credits are listed.

pink, it's sad about Swayze, too.

This is him, popeye. http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/MMPH/250007~Patrick-Swayze-Posters.jpg

He's a decent actor, and seems like a genuinely good guy.

Oh, ok that guy. Now I know who he is.
That sucks, pancreatic cancer is generally always fatal from what I've heard.

Okay, Popeye.

By the way, this site seems to indicate he may not be terminal.  i hope that's true.

winterlight -> RE: Paul Newman (6/11/2008 5:50:13 PM)

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward are two people that are a class act in my book. I wish them all the best. I can't think of a better role model than those two.

Decent people, hard working, wonderful with others, charity work, and great parents. You never heard anything nasty about them and i think they are very down to earth people. If you have those attributes you have it all.

I hope the report isn't true. I wish him much health and happinesss. God bless you both!
