a couple of years ago, we got a memo at a managers meeting (im a cafeteria manager at a school) that showed the use of anti-bacterial soaps has done more harm than good. good old ivory soap and warm water and washing for the proper amount of time(sing twinkle twinkle or abc song 2 times), and making sure to wash all areas of the hands is the best defense. it was stated that the anti-bacterial soaps kill the good bacteria, the ones that actually assist us in fighting the really bad ones. they changed our soaps to a foaming, non bacterial soap right after this. i dont have the memo here to refer to, but i did stop buying anti-bacterial anything after that. i know our govt is screwed up sometimes, but i decided id believe the cdc on this one.
