ahhhh...ok.  How is the little guy doing?  And the rest of the family?

Has Butterhead been able to visit her brother, or is he off limits because of his preemie status?

Roscoe had his breathing tube removed at 10:30 pm on Friday night and has not had to have it replaced. He has lost one ounce.
He has kept down all the food that they have given him. They are using an ING tube right now because they want me to try and nurse him. He has been getting breast-milk though.
They have put clothes on him and they have been turning down the functions on his isolette.
His monitor stats are in tolerable levels.
He peed on daddy when he changed him and squirmed like crazy when he tried to take his temperature.

Daddy feels busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. Super parent and all right now.
I will be released tomorrow.
Butterhead has enjoyed trying to outwit all adults watching her while daddy visits Roscoe.

Butterhead got to see Roscoe before he was transfered to Kansas City. I do not think that she understands that he will be coming to live with us.
We have had different friends watch her while daddy has went and visited Roscoe.
She has visited me.
Yesterday she climbed in my bed and watched a video daddy brought with them. When it was time to leave, she told the maternity ward nurses that, "It's cold, I'm gonna get frostbite." [8|]
Much laughter ensued.
Daddy did not bring her tonight so that he and I could have a meal together.
I do not want to take a toddler to a NICU. They carry all sorts of germs, for one and another is that some of the babies are kind of scary/sad looking. All the tubes and such. Overall, I think that it would be a poor choice.

I stay offline and not pay attention and someone has a baby.

Congrats Aylee, I pray everything is okay and he improves rapidly.  Both my children were preemies, so I know what you are going through.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 6:34:11 PM)

I get started on the afghan in a day or two.  I have to get shipping supplies from Staples tomorrow as well  as a week of survival foods because I will be left alone for a week (Mom's gone...YEA!!!).  I get more things done when she is not around.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 7:18:40 PM)

Thank you both Jeff and Shahar.

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 7:20:31 PM)

Roscoe...how cute!!!!  It sounds like he's just coming right along....which is great news.

I'm keeping you and yours in my thoughts.  Take care of you, too!

Are you going to let Butterhead dress Roscoe?  With her fashion sense, he'll be the best dressed kid on the block!  [:D]    Green hat, pink romper, purple booties....I can see it now!

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 8:59:05 PM)

Sounds like the way I dressed my baby brother when I was 10.  At least with pink cloth diapers...

I am stuck between here and Facebook.  Either I am being an activist for the First Amendment or I am having serious play dates set up.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 9:22:37 PM)

Soul and Shahar: You have pics!

I am more than certain that Butterhead will find innumerable ways of tormenting Roscoe. And if she does dress him that way. . . oh well, so what. Every kid needs something to tell their therapist. [8|]

soul2share -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/10/2011 11:21:22 PM)

Got 'em.....looks like he's really good at making his feelings known!  Or was that all yawning?

And, speaking from experience, it is a big sister's duty, nay, RIGHT, to torment the younger sibling!  I'm pretty confident she'll be up to the task when the time comes.....after all, she takes after Mom, doesn't she?  [;)]

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/11/2011 11:24:38 AM)

Glad he's doing so well. You might get a picture of Butterhead and tell her you're going to put it in the baby's crib, so he'll know who his big sis is.

And yeah, hopefully she'll not object to the new member of the family. My daughter ignored her brother until he started to crawl and got into her stuff. Made it more peaceful.

Get lots of rest Aylee, because once they release you, you won't get any.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/11/2011 1:18:01 PM)

Our very best wishes go out to you and your family Aylee. I am confidant that you will running around trying to keep up with Roscoe in no time at all :)

Phoenixpower -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/11/2011 4:23:37 PM)

Congratulations Aylee and all the best to you and your lil one (as well as to the rest of your family) [:)]

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/11/2011 8:29:50 PM)

Showed them to Mom and she says he looks like a 5-pounder.

Everything will be fine.  Just give him time to get his strength together.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/11/2011 9:40:32 PM)

Thanks all!

When I called tonight for the Roscoe report I was told that he had gained 25 grams. This puts him 15 grams over his birth weight! YAY!

And the breast feeding today went really well. He is currently the 'blue light special' and spending his time in a light mask while 'sun bathing.'

Well Jeff, because of the whole "lactating" thing, I have been walking around singing this:

[sm=dancer.gif]Do your boobs hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them o'er your shoulder
Like a bag that has a boulder?
Do your boobs hang low?

Do your boobs flop wide?
Do they flap from side to side?
Do they wave in the breeze
From the slightest little tease?
Do they pop from your brassiere?
When you drive, do they like to steer?
Do your boobs flop wide?

Do your boobs expand?
Do you find it not so grand?
Do they falsely fill your blouse?
Have they scared away your spouse?
Do you flash them every way?
Just like Pammy A.?
Do your boobs expand?

My normal cup size of between a B and C is between a DD and a DDD. ARGH!!!!

What gets me is that there are people out there that want to do this lactating thing when there is NO baby involved. They are just nucking futs!

jlf1961 -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/17/2011 10:09:38 PM)

You know Aylee, lactation is the usual side effect of  giving birth.

Aylee -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 11:37:31 AM)

Jeff, my tit is BIGGER than his head. It is frightening.

Hillwilliam -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 12:07:03 PM)

Congrads again Aylee. Pulling for the little one here as well.

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/18/2011 12:20:12 PM)

Ah yes, engorgement. It settles down after a month or so. You might see if you can get a hospital grade pump from La Leche. The battery operated ones are useless in the beginning.
