Status: offline 		That's getting to be a big thing, like deep fried butter at fairs and such.  Apparently, both are "acquired" tastes.  You either love em or hate em, no in between.

We made it through Irene unscathed but lost our phone and DSL shortly after. Must be a tree down somewhere. Can't even report it as Verizon's automated system is overloaded.

Anyway, half an hour of cursing at the bowling alley and for the moment I have internet while he bowls. Everybody doing okay?

Status: offline 		Glad you made out OK DesFip.  We got broadsided very lightly here compared to other areas.  Just very heavy winds in the morning, then the pouring rain came.  By Monday morning the sun was shining, it was cooler and turned into a nice week so far.

Status: offline 		I never lost power. People five miles away are still out. Phone lines are down in the commercial district, not expected back before Friday at the earliest. Could be two more weeks for me.

Towns 25 miles away in the Catskills got hammered hard. National Guard is helping there.

Status: offline 		Jeez Louise, I just scared the crap outta myself.  Since it's a holiday, I didn't work today, and like usual, didn't go to bed after getting off work Sunday night.  I finally slept earlier today.

Well, KB did his usual head butt thing for dinner, and I checked the time on my cell, saw it was 5:30 pm, and about killed both of us popping up out of bed.  I thought I was seriously late for work.  It took a few minutes for the fact that it is still Monday to sink in.  Talk about being all messed up sleep wise!  Damn insomnia!

Status: offline 		The Man decided to buy some antenna and router gadget that should give us 3G type internet. Unfortunately we can't get it to work for the wireless so only I, who still has the world's oldest desktop, which is right next to the gadget and connected via a cable am back online. He's out now, and can deal with it when he gets back from the new bowling league.  He won't drive 15 miles north because that's too far, instead he's been talked into going to some alley that's nearly 30 miles away.

Status: offline 		Des, I live in the country and have DSL.   However, since a fiber optic trunk line actually runs 100 yards from the house, I am trying to figure out how to tap that and boost my bandwidth.  I am sure that no one would notice someone digging a ditch across the road and two neighbors yards.
