It cooled off today, so I used the oven, baked chicken breasts in sweet and sour sauce w/honey, and made new potatoes w/garlic and italian seasoning. I can't wait til it's done....the whole house smells goooooooood! Come to think of it, it's the first food I've eaten since last night's sammich when I got home.

I'm outta ice cream, so I had to do the potatoes.......

That does sound good.

We had some left-overs. I have cooked too much in the last few days, so the fridge needs cleaned up. I am thinking about boiling some eggs for egg-salad sammies though. I have been craving those.

Spaghetti pie! Leftover spaghetti tossed with eggs, spread in a greased pie plate and baked to make a crust. Then browned ground beef mixed with spaghetti sauce and cheese on top. Bake till hot through and the cheese is browned.

Or just mix the spaghetti with eggs and drained cottage cheese with Parmesan on top.

We made that in my middle school home ec. class. It was horrible. I have never attempted or eaten it since. It was most likely nasty due to the cheap ingredients and lack of seasonings, but that is an unpleasant memory.

It is time for one of those stories again. So here ya all are. I hope that it makes you smile as much as it did me.

So. . . I was doing something in the kitchen this evening, and Butterhead was wandering around the house repeating some lines off of a Kipper cartoon. This recitation was accompanied by fake laughter (as per Tiger's lines in the show.) After about 15 times of this, with different animals, the exchange between her and I went thusly:

Me: Butterhead, you are very weird.

BH: Thank you, mommy! (Big smile)

Me: You're welcome.

She then proceeded to continue with her Tiger dialog.

Thanks for the smile Aylee, Butterhead sounds like a sweetheart. Reminds me of the silly conversations I used to have with my niece when she was much younger. I miss those days, she's going to be 17 in November. I still remember holding her in the hospital the day after she graced us with her presence.

I think we may be making shortbread cookies today!

A couple days ago she helped me make egg salad for my lunch sandwiches. You would have loved the look she gave me as I tried to explain that in this case, YES, she did need to thwack the egg harder so that she could peel them. After a gazillion times of telling her to do things, "gently."

Saturday, I tell the other half this:

On Wednesday evening, from six to eight, there is an ice-cream social at South Park. The university's Center for Community Outreach is holding it to help raise money for Jubilee Café which serves meals to the homeless. Several of the locally owned ice-cream parlors are bringing their ice-creams to be sampled. It is three bucks a person for all sampling that you want to do. Plan on going, okay.

What he heard me say:

Wednesday = ice cream.

So we head out tonight and go to the park. First we let Butterhead play since this is not her usual park to play in. Then we head over to the ice-cream. He asks me for the forth or fifth time if I remembered to bring money (cash). I reassure him that I have. We are just about there when he asks me, "Just what is this organization?" Ugh! I proceed to go through the spiel again. We pay our money and a donation. We eat ice-cream and Butterhead gets a yellow balloon. As we start to leave, I take him over to the poster thing that tells about the Jubilee Café and what they do. His response, "Oh who cares. We've already given them the money." Ugh! Ugh!

The gentleman that heads it did start laughing at that.

Overall it was a really nice evening.

Wow....this is so cool! I replaced to 256 stick in my computer w/a 1gb one......this sucker's FAAAAST now. It's a dell Dimension 2400 I've had since 2003, and works juuuust fine. Even tho everyone I know keeps telling me to get a new "upgraded" one. pppfffffftttttt.....I might even replace the 512 stick w/another 1gb one just for kicks. I can't believe I actually did it myself....considering that I'm about the least geekiest person around.....I couldn't even get the stoopid card reader at Staples to work for me! It took me about 3 minutes to get the right "agressive" pressure on the pen. Yes, "agressive".....that was the term that the cashier used. Wasn't sure if it was an omen or not.......so far, it's a NOT.
