i am so sorry for any worry i caused.

In Texas, there can not be any marriage until both parties are over the age of 16.  She will be 16 in February.

T does not want a christian ceremony.  He is subject to the suggestion and likes the idea of a hand fasting.  Lizard likes the idea as well.

so I have to find a new alter fixed up.  Lizard has "borrow" my old necklace.

16's just so young. Hell I've made it clear that I'd rather she wait till she's done with grad school.

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 7:35:11 AM)

something about this handfasting/marriage at age 16 just sounds fundamentally wrong

Perhaps they could exchange a promise ring?

After finishing high school an engagement ring and then marriage after college?

Also Shahar, you might want to ask them where they are going to live and what they are going to use for money.  Student jobs are not usually known for being well-paid.  And 16 is too young to enter into contracts for things like a lease, electricity, water, cable, yadda yadda.

Dnomyar -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 10:50:04 AM)

Married my first wife when she was 16. Turned out to be to young to be married at that age. Do they have good paying jobs or is mommy going to let them sponge off of her. Getting married at 16 is a dumb ass idea and it will come back to bite them in the ass. Wait until a baby comes along and see how long that mrriage will last. Dont think of this as comming on to strong. If I were there in person it would be a way lot worse.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 11:09:32 AM)

T has a job that pays $900 a month and his mother agrees if Bo kicks Lizard out, she has a place to stay.  Knowing Bo's temper, crossing him is a terrible thing.

I am supporting both kids because this is a stressful time. Lizard was suppose to take another test today with the school nurse and if she is pregnant, T's mom is to get her to a Planned Parent to get her started on prenatal pills.

I want Lizard up here, but the school program she wants is at her high school (Latin and music) while the school here is backwards in education standards.

T has told me a while back that he wishes to marry Lizard, before she became pregnant.  This speeds things up quite a bit of time.

I am not going to worry about it.  If the kids want a ceremony to attest their faith within each other, I will stand behind them.  I know a few HP/HPs who can work with them.

Now...to figure tings out...Lizards' last cycle was in August (for the tax free weekend).  No sign on September, and now it is mid October.  i am figuring about late June, early July.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 11:38:28 AM)

Lets think about it and look into each state's marriage code.

I do know the code for the state of Texas.  Common law marriages is where you admit yourself as married to a few people, even to a JP or priest.  No paperwork there (filing a joint tax return is such paperwork).
Common law marriage cannot be determined until the youngest one is 16.

Hand fasting is a ritual common admist pagan followers who does not want to follow Christian beliefs (no mention of the word G-D)  and it is a temporary statutes, usually a year and a day.  Most of the time, the marriage is confirmed with an actual ceremony after the hand fasting.  I am licensed to do both ceremonies but I seldom do anything unless I am needed.

Looking up each states marriage code is a healthy mental exercise.  You will never know what you will find.

DesFIP -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 12:32:06 PM)

There are other alternatives to marriage and raising a child. Perhaps Lizard should go talk out her options with a therapist. And who is going to tend the baby while the two of them finish school?

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 1:45:56 PM)

T graduated this year and is working right now as a transcriber.  This job is just a stepping stone for his college major (computer animation).

Lizard wants to finish up HS at the normal rate (with the A's she has been getting) and the school  does have a day care for the mothers on campus.

No word about dropping out, no word about adoption and definitively no word on abortion.  Both of them want to be together and yes, it does appear that both of them are young.  He has never abuse her and she has him as a shoulder to cry on and a bit of her whipping boy (he agrees that she is sadomasochistic).

All of us agree that Bo is going to take it hard.  I think I should be there for the announcement just to calm him down and get them out a the way so Bo and I can discuss this as parents.

Dnomyar -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 1:55:22 PM)

Good luck shahar. Do what you think you have to do. You are going to have a long hard road ahead. That goes for the kids also. My son is 41 and still going thru crap. I went thru it but had lots of brothers and a sister to help me along.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 2:14:32 PM)

Why do you think I am living with my mom...she is the court-appointed guardian for me and keeps an eye on my finances.

Most of the time I am paying student loans, medical transportation and a recent hospital bill from TN.  I just got a notice for my dental checkup (had 3 cavities removed this year).  If mom was not controlling my monies, I still be on the street.

My brother is ready to send his baby's stuff down to Lizard.  That's a good money saver there.

T's mom is willing to help out, even if it includes finding a bigger place to live in.  She has a baby herself and Lizard will be picking up tips on how to handle a baby.

I just wish I can be down there but I have too many doctors wanting to perform tons of tests on me (damn MF of a doctor dared to stab my leg with a wire!).

yourdarkdesire -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 2:58:44 PM)

I wish you guys all the luck Shahar - cause man oh man are you going to need it!

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 4:53:07 PM)

It is going to be tough.  Believe me, if we had the room for her, I would take her in, but then the battle of the bellies will be fought out (small full sized bed).  Personally, if Bo is willing to keep her on his insurance plan, the medical will be taken care of.  He can handle Lizard (and me, the potential grandma) until the baby comes.  Then Lizard and T gets married (she would be 16 then) and she can use the school's day care.  GEDs don't mean shit these days.

Oh boy...I just realized that if she gets into the nesting mode...that place will be spotless.  Lets promote the mode!

Marriage may not be a good idea; of all the couples on Teen Mom (MTV), the only one still together is the pair that gave up their child in an open adoption.  Even they had a rocky time of it.

Would Bo charge T with statutory r-word?  T's up for 2-20 years at this point.

C'mon over, holly!  The hills are in this direction.  We call them the Rocky Mountains.

ShaharThorne -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 5:27:31 PM)

Understatement, Holly..She gets the urge to spew half the time and I told her to drink either hot tea (green) or chilled ginger ale.

So far, Bo does not suspect a thing, just the circles under her eyes and the needing to sleep a lot.

Told her not to touch the litterbox.  To get folic acid and prenatal pills and to run faster than her dad if he finds out.  Thank the deities that there is not a gun in the place.

I have a lot of medical problems myself, so I have to stay home with the calendar, writing the appointments down.  Personally, just check me into the bloody hospital and do all of the testing there.

I have a bruise where the neurologist stabbed me in the thigh yesterday.  For some reason, I cannot feel pain from the knees down.  That means that I can kick someone in the balls and not feel a thing..CBT all the way!

thornhappy -> RE: The Holly and Potty Show (10/15/2010 5:28:07 PM)

I thought you would show her Pikes Peak!
