Short answer, yes
Slightly longger answer, definately, just like it was with every other OS... XP is only unique in that it stayed around so long, (well that and the NTFS file system, but thats a whole nother story)
this is just what happens in the tech world... the new always replaces the old, a lot of people freak out about it, and then after they get used to it, it happens again, with the new hardware being released, you can expect to see at least 3 more Operating Systems come out in the next 10 years... just to keep up

I've been hating my laptop (vista home premium 64-bit) which doesn't run any old programs.  I was browsing Office Depot and they have Lenova Thinkpad R61i using Windows XP Pro!!!!  Kinda a big and square clunky looking computer, but ya know...  tempting

this is your problem.... 64 bit is unstable, because they werent able to impliment the software that would keep it stable (too resource intensive) if you call them I believe they are still switching people to 32-bit
