I thought about listing the Cramps, but they ain't exactly a name band. "Bikini Girls with machine Guns" what a masterpiece. CCR I forgot.  Violent Femmes rock.  Bad Brains damn near invented punk.

Minutemen
Ministry
Butthole Surfers
how could I forget the Who? FFS

Yeah, I love the Cramps.  Yeah you're right, not everyone knows who they are.  Butthole Surfers and Ministry are great too.  I didn't list a lot of the older bands like the Who, and I didn't list but one metal band.  I also noticed I didn't list one British punk band.  I didn't really like the Sex Pistols.  I kind of have the same opinion of them that Henry Rollins has of them....they were cute.

I like a lot of metal, but I only like particular songs from most metal bands.  I didn't like the rest of their material.  I listed AC/DC and CCR because those are two bands that had nothing but great songs.  I can't think of one thing either did that I didn't like.

Man, too bad you didn't have more time up here. I have some early Johnny Cash, Elvis, Carl Perkins, & Jerry Lee here - early Sun stuff on vinyl. Wait till I get my good audio gear fixed.

I got a bunch of old Sun stuff on vinyl too.  I used to collect records, and I grabbed all of my grandmother's records when she died.  I've got a couple of Elvis and one Johnny Cash record produced by Sun.  I also have a shitload of old 45's that my mother let me have.  She was going to throw them out, before I intercepted them.

You're sitting on gold, there.

I'm not overwhelmed by most metal stuff.  A couple of the Glam/Hair metal bands did some decent stuff, but not consistently. Van Halen did some fine work, and David Lee had a great rock voice, but he did too much belching and farting. I'm not a fan of shredding, either. In 12 bar, it's often the note not played that makes the difference.

And speed/death metal, well, I dunno, for me, much of it is comical - at the point of self-parody; that or I associate it with Stormfront mosh pits.

Violent femmes rock! Nice list, I agree with all of them...I have to add for me "Dead Kennedys" and "Suicidal Tendencies.

Bad Religion
Bad Brains

Ramones
Misfits
Vandals
Descendents
Primus
Midnight Oil
Violent Femmes

Those are just the ones off the top of my head.  I never was very good at making favorite lists.  My moods change too much to have favorites.

Of course, I excluded the bands that only had one or two songs that I liked.  I also excluded bands that I won't admit to liking. [:D]
