I have a Logitech that I paid about $150 for. It works pretty nicely. I have never had an issue with ads. Sometimes picture quality has to do with the program you're using. Yahoo IM webcaming sucks. iVisit was pretty good, quality-wise, but Mac-to-PC would have connection problems. iVisit also has voice, and the ability to record. It cost $50/year. Right now we use SightSpeed. The quality is really good, and the frame rate is incredible - no lagging or jaggedy movements. It also allows for voice and cam, and it's free unless you want qualities like recording and sending voicemail or videomail. We tried AIM but it didn't work so well. I haven't tried Skype, but I understand it can do voice and video, too. I don't know what program you use, but Yahoo was the worst for us, quality-wise.
