http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8kne5-J-fs

This video may have been highlighted here before so if this is a repeat, i apologize right at the start. However, i have just come across it and it is beautiful! Perhaps one of the most erotic aspects to WIIWD for me, anyway.

i am curious as to others thoughts on the ropework and music...

crouchingtigress -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 11:01:56 AM)

thanks dawn!!!

thats was scrumptious.....i know you already know how myself and Sir feel about shibari....truly poetic....yum.

dawntreader -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 11:06:38 AM)

Yes i do amy [:)]

i have fallen in love with this video - it is speaking to me, the music keeps rolling thru my head and i want to make it the soundtrack for my life!

And the artistry of the rope work, so erotic and elegant at the same time...

This has touched on something so deep, it is almost spiritual and i know it sounds crazy...

crouchingtigress -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 11:22:18 AM)

although i did find my first unpleasent caveat to rope suspentions this weekend....jute.

jute is incredibly painful, i was trussed up in it several times this weekend and it was excruciating....wow!...i told lee it might have to be a hard limit...i was pulling rope splinters out of my bits for two days...so he says "we'll see"...with that look that just melts me....so i guess we will see. :)

spiritual...oh yes i am fully with you on that.....

Thank you!  I might add, there are actually some Tutorial Vids on Youtube as well, such as;

Very nice, dawntreader - both the ropework and the music. More meditations should involve the two.

Although it's not set to music and it doesn't really involve suspensions, I find this the most beautiful site for shibari: http://ropemagic.art.coocan.jp/ (look under pictures for the most photos).

*takes the "here's your sign" sign from Phin and claims it for himself

(probably not going to LF - I'll either most likely be with my progeny or in Ohio visiting friends)

i thought you would be...now if i could just find a Shibari ropeweaver who would play that music...that would be a fantasy come true[;)]

MusicalBoredom -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 12:28:14 PM)

Thanks Dawn.  It was very nice and presented and very calming yet sensual way.

Crouching, I think that's why I have a hard time working with natural fibers.  I have sanded and polished and still get little prickly bits.  I think natural looks awesome but (most likely due to my ack of experience with natural rope) I end up using man made red or black sail sheets the most.

Phin,

As crouchingtigress indicated, Shibaricon is this Friday through Monday (5/23-5/26). I was all registered, but ended up having a job interview this Friday and a family reunion on Sunday, so I had to cancel. I'm bummed I'll have to miss it, but we'll have some other folks from NC who'll be attending and be able to fill us in at the cordial on 6/7. Look forward to seeing you there!

frazzle121 -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 4:50:04 PM)

Sorry to differ, but, and im often wrong.  A lot of that was just bondage.  i didnt have the sound on, so the music was irrelevant.
Having been on the receiving end of shibari, i find most of it just mind numbingly boring. It takes forever to do, equal length of time to undo. Ok to the person practising macrami it might look good in the end, but my personal view. Get a plastic doll who wont complain at standing around forever.

Yes i know, not very sub of me, but if the tying up takes an hour, ive kind of lost the plot before the rest starts.

ViceVersa -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 5:29:11 PM)

Hi frazzle,

Yes...that's a criticism I hear a lot about shibari. I don't pretend to be an expert and technically a lot of what I do may not qualify as shibari, but most of my ties only take maybe 10 minutes. I think what's missing from your experience and what I'd like to develop in mine is how to make the tying part of the scene itself - to move beyond the science of the tie to the art of applying it. The best kink presentation I've ever seen was Midori doing rope bondage for our local group. She was amazing in her control of the demo bottom and in the way she ran the rope across his body, across his face, across his nipples, and flowed from one tie to the next. 100 folks were absolutely mesmerized and were so quiet you could have heard a pig drop.

ocilla -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 7:14:22 PM)

yeah I too have participated in and seen the sort of rigging where the tieing is integrated into the D/s element.  Midori's book is very useful in providing perspectives from the top and the bottom in various scenes.

And just to run it in a bit....I am headed to Shibaricon tomorrow.  WOOT!

HornyToadsMI -> RE: Shibari (5/21/2008 7:21:07 PM)

Beautiful work....I love the pics where the women look like marianettes (sp?)......wow.....
