Depends on my mood, and what "things" I may be engaged in at the time.  [image]http://www.collarchat.com/micons/m11.gif[/image]   for playtime:

I really dig the soundtrack to Queen of the Damned, the score album is great too.  I also enjoy the various mixes from remix.nin.com, I dig any Metallica before the black album.  Tool is also a great choice to set a crazy awesome mood.  My absolute favorites, though, the Matrix soundtracks.  Awesome stuff.  And God Lives Underwater.  And more Tool.  And the Spawn soundtrack.  Linkin Park!  Woohoo!

For the backyard BBQ-ey goodness, I adore me some old school country.  Charlie Daniels, (some Jack Daniels too lol) Hank Jr, George Jones.  Love it love it.  Put out by the lake with a cooler of beer and David Allan Coe.  Good times. [sm=givemebeer.gif]

For cuddley time?  Death Cab for Cutie.  Shiny Toy Guns.  Billy Joel.  Tom Petty.  I'm listening to Alicia Keys right now.  Not not cuddling.  So in sum, my tastes in music are varied and all over the place.  Needless to say, I am all about the music.  Alot.  Radio on 24/7.

I personally --hate-- background noise.  I always try to maintain very focused on my Owner's words or sounds...and music, or the television, or something really throws me for a loop.  Something mechanical, like a fan wouldn't bother me...but something with words would just rattle me for a while.

daddysblondie -> RE: music (5/18/2008 11:34:46 PM)

see, it's the words that get me... instrumental music only is fine though... it helps set the mood and gives me something else to focus on when Daddy's not talking and i need to focus my attention on something outside of myself...

Justme696 -> RE: music (5/18/2008 11:35:41 PM)

no music....just my girl moaning/screaming...that is all I want
(or music to suppress the noises some..but can be anything)

breatheasone -> RE: music (5/18/2008 11:37:19 PM)

I would LOVE music...but it would also take away from it I think, so I'm torn....but if I did have music it would be techno...hard house/trance......

Justme696 -> RE: music (5/18/2008 11:52:10 PM)

my girl loves trance..and I love metal. It would end in war before we even started..lol

bipolarber -> RE: music (5/19/2008 5:11:58 AM)

(I'm expecting LA to post a macro list on this subject and moment now...)

It's really varied. I've been in scenes that were backed up by everything from Disney tunes, to classical, to heavy metal. One of the more interesting ones was a very intense flogging scene I gave a sub to the "truck chase" music from "Raiders of the Lost Ark." (lots of thumps, and cerchendo) I also record a lot of "Music From the Hearts of Space" on NPR... usually some great "floaty" stuff for more sensual play.

As far as composers, try Stravinski... the eccentric themes, and changes in tempo make for some lovely variation when it comes to BDSM, or just plain ol' fucking.

Padriag -> RE: music (5/19/2008 5:56:03 AM)

Anything by the Carpenters... cause I just love that happy cheery sound amid the screams. [8D]

I love music, play several instruments, and have a huge CD collection that includes everything from Stravinsky to The Crystal Method.

But, for Me, music is too distracting for BDSM.

Lynnxz -> RE: music (5/19/2008 8:12:15 AM)

Tool, Manson, Metallica, a little bit of Pantera, there's a few songs by Evanescence, Tiger Army isn't bad for a high energy type of deal, uhmm... I dunno.. I generally just throw a good cd in.

I know several people that swear by some band named Butt Boys....? Supposedly they make music just for scenes, but I found it kind of repetitive and obnoxious.

abcbsex -> RE: music (5/19/2008 8:23:08 AM)

any kind of string quartet tribute is awesome during playtime (especially the one for Tool), but if we're looking for words we go with She wants revenge, Orgy, The Prodigy,Marilyn Manson, Lords of Acid, Type O Negative. All fun stuff.

edited to add:

some quilty pleasure music I have that gets me hot is "sexyback" by Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado's remake of "Maneater" HOT. I need to go download me some tunes now.

Butt Boy.  :-)

Voted "COOL COMPOSER"
by Rolling Stone Magazine (1993 Cool Issue)

For the past 10 years, Butt Boy has been composing original music designed to set the tone for dungeon scenes, gaining a loyal cult following in the leather world. Having done his masters work in music composition, he has created his own cottage industry, marketing as well as producing nine albums.

Butt Boy has come a long way from his beginnings. He started writing his music for use in his own scenes, feeling that mass-produced music being used in dungeon play was at best incidental and at worst intrusive. He set out to create music that could become a part of, even inspire, the action. As friends and "partners" heard his creations, they encouraged him to package the songs and release an album. However, there was no market for self-described "Dungeon Music." It too had to be created. Thus Butt Boy began in Houston during "Living in Leather '93," copying the cassettes of his debut album "Feel the Music" under the table as quickly as he was selling them. What began as a side business grew over the years into his sole profession. To date, he has released nine albums by Butt Boy under his own label, Thrust Recordings, and soon will add a second artist to that label, Techestral.
Each album, Butt Boy says, was built around a different concept. Initially, their concepts were overtly sexual, exploring the rhythms of flogging, screwing and oral sex. Later album themes have leaned more to the spiritual, exploring rituals, fantasies and the mental side of play.
"I was beginning to understand the leather psyche more," he tells, "beginning to realize it was about more than a specific sex act. Leather, I realized was a way of life, a ritual."

His 1999 release, "Cathedral," broke through with a Gothic arc and orchestral feel that focused on the visual. By '99, his expanding fan base made experimentation not only possible, but necessary to his survival. After all, what is the leather lifestyle about if not pushing limits. With his eighth album titled "Visions," his music style changes yet again to be darker and more sinister than any that came before it. He took as inspiration, a series of fantasies and dreams he had concerning mythological creatures mating with humanity, sometimes violently.
"Don't tie me down to formulas," Butt Boy explains, "I don't take what's successful and do it again and again like Hollywood sequels. I try to take (my music) somewhere different each release."

A master musician, Butt Boy has proven to be a master marketer as well. Over the years, he has grown larger than the leather festivals where he began. Of late, his music is available in many lifestyle stores around the world. On the web, Butt Boy music can be heard at www.ButtBoyMusic.com.
Butt Boy has single handedly carved a niche for himself in the music industry where independent ideas are not as welcome as one would believe. His refusal to be tied down musically has proven a welcome soundtrack for those who like to be tied down physically. Butt Boy is committed to bringing his music, as well as the leather message, to all who are progressive enough to listen.

   I've been searching for good scene music too. I think the heavy stuff set a good mood for Me. I've used stuff like:
Alice in Chains, (The name alone...c'mon) Godsmack, some Evenascence...etc (My little girl likes Evenascence and Amy writes some really good "sub" lyrics.)
  In conversation with My little girl, she revealed to Me that the lyrics actually take her away from the scene mentally. As we are both singers, obviously we both listen closely to lyrics. So I'm on the quest to find instrumental music that is powerful enough for Me and intense enough for a scene, yet not too over the top as to take My girl's mind away from a scene.
  I was listening to some Baroque music last week and some of that could work.

abcbsex -> RE: music (5/19/2008 9:50:52 AM)

oh I am so sharing this with my friend who says they're awesome and has admitted to having kinky fantasies!

wulfgarw -> RE: music (5/19/2008 2:43:16 PM)

One of our local subs has sugessted making a 'white noise' album of nothing but flogging.

And then use it to go to sleep to or use as noise in a scene.

kiwisub12 -> RE: music (5/19/2008 3:14:50 PM)

I like instrumental music as well, and for the same reason - i get distracted and start following the lyrics.   I love the sound track to The Last of the Mohicans - very "celtic mets traditional american folk", and the sound track to " a beautiful mind". Very moody.
My Sir has a cd of drumming which is pretty cool as well.

Of course , once i am really into the pain, i tend not to hear the music anyway - when i come up ,  i find the cd is half over.

bipolarber -> RE: music (5/19/2008 3:27:20 PM)

You know, a "Halloween sound effects record" of scene sounds might be a big seller. I can definitely see where there might be a market for such a thing.

Interesting. My submissive lady and I talked about music...and then totally forgot to use it during the two times we've been together. (We currently have a long-distance relationship.) I recall we mentioned Enya...and I have a Narada CD with some New Age cuts on it.

We'll be together again in nine (count 'em, 9) days! Let's remember the music this time, lover! [:D]
