Only "countries like Iran" have a visa requirement for foreign journalists (e.g. Cuba, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Zimbabwe and the United States)...

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2004/jun/05/usa.weekend7

quote:

"You came here as a journalist, and you don't have a journalist's visa." I had never heard of it. He swiftly produced the visa waiver (I-94W) I had signed on the plane, and pointed to what it said in tiny print: in addition to not being a drug smuggler, a Nazi or any other sort of criminal, I had inadvertently declared that I was not entering the US as a representative of foreign media

Yep. The bunker mentality isn't making the US many friends, which I doubt bothers ordinary Americans much but I know it bothers American exporters because their products are getting associated with the bad treatment given out by the American authorities.  I know many people who have been to the US since 'anyone who is not American is a criminal attitude' and won't be going back. The American customs have always had a superiority complex towards none Americans as if everyone wanting to visit America wanted to stay for hamburgers and country music but now it so so much worse. I've stopped visiting my brother in California because I can't be arsed with the hoops one has to jump through just to visit. Its much easier to meet in Canada and have a holiday there and far more enjoyable.

"If the US Government isn't doing anything wrong, why are they afraid of Foreign Journalists?"
