Well lately we have chats with names like CuthuluTentacleSex and authors and screen writers frantically trying to find ways to shock an increasingly blase and media saturated public, poor f*cked out crackwhore that it is.  Time to re-group and realise that less is often more.[sm=evil.gif]

Let's not forget the witch hunts beginning sometime earlier than the werewolves you mention.

Is it more a case of dramatizing or persecuting our fears than expressing our desires?  I'm not sure.  Maybe a bit of both?

Fiction is a way for vanilla society to experience the wild and untamed while maintaining their veneer of respectablity.
"I'm not into that stuff, just expanding my literary horizons."
But many fetishists have taken the first steps into a kinkier lifestyle by reading some of these stories. For instance Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde is chock full of psychological domination. Certainly there are strong sexual overtones in Bram Stokers Dracula which have held over into most vampire fiction. Even Mary Shellys Frankenstein had its moments of domination and kink.

Mass media is replacing literature as the medium for this sort of exploration now. How many fetish related episodes of Greys anatomy, CSI, Scrubs, or whatever are out there? Loads.

Anything, and I do mean anything, the human imagination can come up with, has likely been thought of in a kinky way, by someone. So, it stands to reason that sooner or later, some brave/demented person would reach out, to see if there was a kindred soul ready to respond.

I just watched an episode of House, that actually painted a good picture of the lifestyle. Of course House made his smartass comments and called them freaks, but at the end there was a short monolouge from the Domme that did not draw a evil smartass comment.
