BOSTON - Sen. Edward M. Kennedy was hospitalized Saturday after becoming ill at his home, his office said. There was no immediate word on his condition.

A knowledgeable official said Kennedy was in the hospital after suffering stroke-like symptoms. The official declined to be identified by name, citing the sensitivity of the events.

Kennedy spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter confirmed in a statement that Kennedy went to Cape Cod Hospital on Saturday morning "after feeling ill at his home." After discussion with his doctors in Boston, Kennedy was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for further examination.

right now they're saying he's resting comfortably and undergoing tests after suffering a seizure this morning, there will be no conclusive results for about 48 hours.  in other words, tune in monday for more information.  until then, your guess is as good as theirs.

He must have got a "bad ice cube."

i don't think that man ever met an ice cube he didn't like, especially if it had the potential to go swimming in his favorite alcoholic beverage within 10 seconds of him finding it.

Fox News, or at least the woman on there currently, have just done something fucking pathetic.

Fox host Julie Banderas was speaking to Geraldine Ferraro, about Kennedy, and she felt the need to mention how some Fox viewers were sending in email, asking for them to not forget to be "fair and balanced", and to mention how some of them "hate" Kennedy.....

I've never seen Fox as "fair and balanced", but enjoy watching it sometimes..... but that was needless, crass bullshit.

Lol, Windchymes!
That's how he talks.
In Boston radio host Howie Carr calls him, "The Wizzard of Ah's."
So now it was a "seizure." Get a couple of Johnnie Walker blacks into him and he'll come right out of it.
Hopefully the Doctors will tell him to retire.
We don't need anymore 76 year old "Senators."

2 things:
1) He is still a senator because people keep voting for him.
2) What is too old?
McCain will be 72.

Irishknight -> RE: Ted Kennedy hospitalized with "stroke like symptoms" (5/17/2008 3:38:24 PM)

just because people keep doing it doesn't mean its good for them.  People still do crack and heroin but that doesn't mean those things are good.

Anjelika, "70" is too old!
I favor term limits and age levels for  U.S. govt employees.
You don't see a lot in the private sector past 65.
And in Kennedy's case the alchoholism has really been working on his brain the last few decades. There was even talk that he's had a liver transplant.
He has trouble with his speech and trouble remembering things.
Last year he introduced Barak Obama as, "Osama Bin Laden,..."Osama Obama,..."Osama Alabama."

Irishknight -> RE: Ted Kennedy hospitalized with "stroke like symptoms" (5/17/2008 3:47:01 PM)

Maybe he should have done a bit more swimming when he was younger?

Sanity -> RE: Ted Kennedy hospitalized with "stroke like symptoms" (5/17/2008 5:02:52 PM)

maryjo kopeckne, wasn't that her name?  left her to drown and ran like a chicken.  what a guy!  never could understand how he managed to get re-elected so many times after that nasty bit of business.  guess money and a name erases alot of memories.

As I said, he should have done a bit more swimming in his youth.  Any pain  and suffering this man feels is probably karma catching up to him.
