"I don't want some mom whose son may have recently died to see the Commander-in-Chief playing golf," Bush said in an interview with Yahoo and Politico.com

Very noble. My opinion of him has risen immensely upon reading this.

Instead of golfing he could have taken up going to serivemen's funerals. Or maybe going out to Dover occasionally to see the coffins returning home. But simply giving up the sport seems awfully shallow as a show of respect with my conrades in arms who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Where's the sarcasm emote?
If this is the best he can come up with as a form of solidarity then it's sad.

He couldn't support the Webb GI Bill since that might help those who survive Iraq have better futures. He won't forbid stop loss orders since that might show how unpopular the Iraq war is with the troops. Not swinging a driver is probably the best he could think of. Too bad "shotgun" Cheney didn't choose to give up his favorite sport as a show of solidarity.

Yeah, that was touching.

Have I mentioned it yet today that I think that Bush is a total fucking jackass? It's important to say every day when applicable.

You know, I don't remember ever seeing him play golf.  I never thought about it before.  He must not be any good.  I don't know, maybe Bush Sr. was like my father.  My father used to drag me and my little brother along so we could carry his clubs.  Those boring father-son excursions pretty much ruined golf for me.

You should thank your father for teaching you a very valuable lesson!

And, I'm sure there's footage of him playing golf in one of those Michael Moore films?
