you are right...a true hero!!

DomKen -> RE: Mourning for a true hero (5/12/2008 9:31:39 AM)

From the article:
quote:

"The term 'hero' irritates me greatly. The opposite is true. I continue to have pangs of conscience that I did so little," Sendler said in one of her last interviews.

She saved 2500 children and was tortured by the Gestapo yet she felt guilt she had done 'so little.' The world has truly lost a great hero.

GreedyTop -> RE: Mourning for a true hero (5/12/2008 9:46:13 AM)

the world needs more people like her, willing to stand up and help her fellow man despite the risks to herself.  she's earned her place in heaven.

You hear that same sentiment from a lot of the people who helped Jews and other oppressed groups during the Holocaust.  I imagine they felt absolutely helpless during that time.  I don't think any of us could ever get close to imagining that type of powerlessness.

Bound2One -> RE: Mourning for a true hero (5/12/2008 5:35:44 PM)

cool, MP.... sounds like a plan!!  log cabin, with a wide wrap-around porch, facing a lake.  Matching rocking chairs... and cabana boys to do our bidding!

More proof of the goodness that exists in the world.
She's the definition of a hero, even if she didn't like the title.

Whenever the world seems too cruel these people pop up, seemingly from no where.

These Angels in disguise. God Bless her for having such a huge heart.

Thank you GT for posting this.
