One could arue it but one would never win in any kind of court.  If a person is not in bleeding, they (the army) can refuse to treat them.  When the child recieved the injuries that caused the loss of limbs, the army was more than liable to stop the bleeding and save the life of an injured civilian.  They are noe bound by any obligation but a moral one to try to replace lost limbs for civilians.
I applaud the soldier for standing up for this child.

I don’t remember hearing about this but maybe you have. On the other hand his family was at the meeting too so that could have played a part in his actions.

No qualms about that whatsoever, IrishKnight. The media puts forth a stream of negative press, but it's a rarity we ever get to hear the good that occurs. It does raise some interesting issues though, such as how she will feel once she has grown and established her own opinions on the conflict. I hope she is able to live to her fullest potential and become that doctor she wants. I'm sure with support she will.

Iraqi Army at Besmaya Installation Support San Diego Fire Victims
By U.S. Army Sgt 1st Class Charlene Sipperly
Multi-National Security Transition Command – Iraq Public Affairs

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Members of the Iraqi Army in Besmaya collected a donation for the San Diego, Calif., fire victims Thursday night at the Besmaya Range Complex in a moving ceremony to support Besmaya's San Diego residents.

Iraqi Army Col. Abbass, the commander of the complex, presented a gift of $1,000 to U.S. Army Col. Darel Maxfield, Besmaya Range Complex officer in charge, Multi-National Security Transition Command Iraq, to send to the fire victims in California.

The money was collected from Iraqi officers and enlisted soldiers in Besmaya. In a speech given during the presentation, Col. Abbass stated that he and the Iraqi soldiers were connected with the American people in many ways, and they will not forget the help that the American government has given the Iraqi people. Abbass was honored to participate by sending a simple fund of $1,000 to the American people in San Diego, to lower the suffering felt by the tragedy.

Quite surprised that "the usual suspects" havent yet been in here to accuse the soldier concerned of aiding and abetting the enemy
