Status: offline 		So, this young man is a new Benjamin Banneker.  I thought the film was unbearably patronising but as it was clearly cut from a much longer programme, I suppose allowances must be made.  If only they could get reasonable prices for the tobacco they sell, his community might produce more like him.  Hmm, what's wrong with this picture?

Yes it was a bit especially the come look at our fucking gigantic windmills part. Also another point is that those big windmills probably meet far less than 1% of the energy needs of the US but his windmill meets 100% of his for the time being. Who in the film is trying to convince who that they have the answers to renewable energy? 

They probably class this news item as with ‘Plenty of feel good factor’

Those windmills are really noisy but if anyone has ever been on the roof of a high-rise building chasing a scrap of paper with important information they know that is the place to put a windmill but look up and see how many of our tall buildings have them.

Mr Makouso, Mr Makouso why is this gap year student working on your plantation and asking stupid questions about which coffee beans go in each bag?

Also Mr Makouso if the same beans go in both the ‘decaff’ and ‘roast and ground’ Kenco coffee why do you bother to label the bags isn’t this a bit counter productive and a waste of ink?

You don't know what I'm talking about oh I don't care, I've wrote it now and I don't want this time I wasted writing it to count for nothing.

i think too much time is spent lamenting the unfairness of things....somebody has to be the one to change the machine by being proactive.  Waiting on fairness in business...this guy would still be in the dark.  The patronizing condescension of the documentary and engineering guys, that's par for the course.  For me, it's always fun to make people eat shit, when they come at me that way...he can definately use that to fuel his dreams.

Status: offline 		Actually can I just correct myself as a windmill is the wrong term for these things it should be wind turbine since no milling goes on anymore.

A good axial flux costs about a grand to build oneself.

Status: offline 		Obviously, there is nothing new in this development.  Windmills and wind turbines have been around for a long time.  What is gratifying is that a bright young man saw a way to improve his and his families lives, and maybe the lives of his neighbors and country.  Here in North Kohala, we have a relativly new wind farm with about twenty wind generators, plus yesterday I met an engineer who is putting up a new one in families yards about every two weeks.  The personal generators will actually run the electric meter backwards, and some families are seeing a credit on their electric bills.  HELCO (Hawaiian Electric Co.) will not pay for excess electricity, but the wind generators are making a difference.  The up front cost can be difficult, I have heard approx. 19k.  Certainly they not viable everywhere, but the technology is improving all the time, and should be used where viable.
