Common features in scammer profiles - 5/8/2008 5:34:25 PM

I wrote some of this on the Financial Domination thread, but figured it would be helpful to separate it out.

I've been able to meet women off this site and Alt because of two reasons: (1) I treat women like human beings; and (2) I learned how to recognize scammers so I stopped wasting time writing to them.  Here are some common profile and IM warning signs.

1) low-res bikini photo as main profile pic
2) height/weight totally disproportionate (5'7" and 90 lbs)
3) race is "Native American" and the person doesn't look Cherokee, Sioux, etc.
4) use of the phrase "God-fearing" anywhere in the profile
5) recent death of a parent, causing temporary visit to another country
6) employment is "model" or "fashion designer"
7) extensive use of the word "hun"
8) being IN LOVE WITH YOU right away
9) not living in the same country as stated in the profile

It is also helpful to google a key section of the profile, or of the first letter you receive back.  There are several anti-scam web sites that keep archives of these letters.

I agree...Great post...i have found on a vanilla site i used to be on that men who are scammers who contact women have a few things in common:

1) broken English
2) They say they live in a state like Texas but aren't there right now but are working as an engineer in a foreign country
3) They write about their mother or mum alot and are almost always writing about god or religion....
4) Oh and their wife recently died in the last two years and left them with a young child
5) They are very mushy about love and say they love you immediately in the first email and they want you to talk to them on one of those messengers.

Edited to say: Yikes...i kind of repeated what the OP said but in different words....i guess both sexes use the same tactics except the men put up a blurry photo that is always Caucasian in my experience but they probably target whatever the race the person they are writing to is.

I posted about talking to an older dominant woman on here in a previous forum, Alpha and I were all ready to meet her but she and her "partner" were no-shows even though they said they had reserved hotel rooms, bought a plane tickets, etc. We had made it very clear we weren't going to spend any extravagant amount trying to meet with them and they were okay with that, but all of a sudden, all contact was dropped. So here's the behavior we ran into with those two.

1. Always signed into yahoo as "invisible" so I had no way of actually contacting them until they initiated it
2. Domme said she'd be willing to fly us out of state to meet for the first time and she'd chalk it up to a "business expense"
3. Claimed to know many people and have important connections in the adult entertainment industry
4. Profile pictures (though not bikini pictures) were deleted within a couple days of contacting us
5.  overly extravagant claims of regular travel all over the world, sexcapades, "too good to be true" kinds of things.

who knows if these ladies were real, but after being stood up twice (first, flight cancellation. second, no explanation) by them I'll consider it a lost cause.

edited cause I can't use no grammar

oh yeah, and I forgot to add.... using porn photos of anyone in the industry. because porn stars usually can't use those photos without the photographer's and company's permission. Just ran into that on a profile that used pictures of Liz Vicious, a super hot alternative pornstar who lives in California. They claim to live in DC.

For whatever reason, a lot of for-real women write me, either in response to a letter of mine, or to comment on something I've posted.  So I've gotten a window into how a lot of people experience this site.  Part of the reason I started this thread is that I have learned that hetero women have no idea how bad it is for men who are looking on this site.  Lesbians do, because the same scammers who run the female profiles for guys also try to con gay women.  The words used in chat are almost identical.

If you never encountered this yourself, you're lucky.  It's unfortunately not an opinion.

I've had about a dozen scam mails in the past six months here. I reported them all, but they just get new accounts as the old ones are deleted.

>.< To using well known pornstars. I have a feeling they just throw some random words in Google and chose the first pix that pops up.

However, a lot of girls have free usage of all of their pictures, soooo I guess you never know?

Again, I will call you on the generalization--trust Me sweets, some of us hetero women DO know how bad it is for men looking, because some of us are here to pick up the pieces.

Very hot lesbians with little to no profiles, one, maybe two pictures, usually come off to me as total fakes.

i guess it depends on the photographer and porn site, but a lot of times you'll see the pictures the girls use with watermarks of the particular website they were taken for. If that watermark was cropped out, it's fake, or someone is getting sued. This profile in particular had done just that.

You'd be surprised at how little free usage the girls actually get. Unless they were paying for the shoot, it's unlikely they can use it without some kind of advertisement for the person who did. Not even suicide girls get free usage anymore.

I don't understand why there are still spammers. Alot of them scammers. If you are susceptible to that I got a way for you to make a million dollars a day.

Oh wait, why ain't I doing that ?

Be back later.

because it works.   there ARE people who believe what they claim.

it is changing as more are familiar.

to me someone is a time waster if for too long they do not provide reciprocal  info.

I had listed a 1989 chevy celebrity for sale 2 yrs ago.  well- someone in UK wanted to buy it.  AND SHIP it there.  of course -the check- send back x-amount of $.
who would ship a $300 car?  lol

for every piece of technology that will save us- a contradictory piece occurs. :-)

2) They say they live in a state like Texas but aren't there right now but are working as an engineer in a foreign country

I agree with most of these - but this one is inaccuate. I actually DO live in Texas, and while I dont practice engineering, travel extensively. I have engineer friends who dont know from day to day what continent they will be waking up on. Particularly if someone works for KBR, Halliburton, an oil company, or an oilfield tool, supply or services company they could be anywhere. However, they will write like Americans not in broken gibberish and will likely acidentally throw in industry jargon. Ya'll can tell real Texans! Plus they will talk proudly of their state. Ill be happy to tell anyone about "The Strand" or why ya dont piss in the dunes in Galveston unless ya have a real close female friend with you. or about the catfish in Lake Conroe, why you dont go to Vidor with a non-caucasion friend or associate, why you never piss off Pasadena PD - argue with them, attempt to step out of the car, or let your hands get out of sight... (SERIOUSLY if you ever get pulled over in Stinkadina there are three answers "Sir Yes Sir, Sir No Sir, and Sir, this motorist does not know but will find out for you sir"!!!), why the Downtown Aquarium sucks balls and isnt an Aquarium (Go to Moody Gardens) etc.... The poser texans wont know this all....

As for #3 a lot of Texans actually ARE religious zealots! When I first moved here I mistook a baptist church for a MALL! They are that big!!! Football and George Strait are religions here in Texas and church is the most popular sport. Even the beautiful horny women are "thumpers"... I had a girlfriend (Baptist) have a snit because I bought fudge from a methodist bake sale. LOL

Adding to the thread though - LESBIANS LOOKING FOR MEN! Dead give away. Any use of the workd "janga" to describe a dick! A gorgeous female sub with no limits who likes EVERYTHING. (Midget Goats in a Trapeeze, sure!) Anything that sounds "too good to be true"....

1. Always signed into yahoo as "invisible" so I had no way of actually contacting them until they initiated it

This is actually another one that I disagree with. I am almost always invisible on Yahoo, as are several legit people I know. This is akin to letting a call go to voice mail to decide if you want to answer it. If Im not invisible - I am pestered by stupid questions from students who should look the answers up in the voluminous texts and systems manuals they were issued. Or you get a million IM's from foreigners you dont want to speak to saying "Hai!" Buzz Hai! Buzz Hallo?? Hallo? Buzz Hai!!!!!" If your not online your not bothered, and those who know me know to IM me even if it says Im offline and if Im there Ill answer. Remember the scammers dont only work CM they pester people on Yahoo Messenger too....
