mistoferin -> The nose knows? (5/3/2008 4:18:57 PM)

I know that we are attracted to each other by pheromones...but I thought it was an unconscious sort of thing. I know we all have a unique scent.

Sir has told me that he can tell when I am aroused by my scent. At first I was kind of panic stricken and thought he was talking about my pussy....so I checked, literally, and could not detect any kind of fragrance at all....other than soap. Actually, I don't think I have ever detected any specific smell coming from that region...but I was aroused and so when I checked I was relieved that there wasn't some funky smell or something. When I asked if that is what he was indeed talking about he said no. He went on to explain that when I am aroused I just have a different overall "fragrance" about me.

Could this really be true or is he just yanking my chain? He does seem to be pretty damn accurate in his timing. If it is true, can others smell this? Like at the grocery store or standing in line or something?(Please say no or I will be blushing every time I'm in public from now on) I can't remember ever smelling someone and thinking "Wow, they're aroused!".

Oh dear.  Like I really need something else to worry about.

Level -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 4:21:41 PM)

I can't smell anything such as that, erin.

Is it the pollen?.... [:D]

Don't scientists claim humans can be attracted by scents? Pheromones or some such?

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 4:23:01 PM)

For me it's a case of learning curve.  With my partner, I know when he's around, I know when he's stressed, when he's happy, how long ago he showered, how long ago he was outsideand a few others things from smell alone.

I can also do this with my mom, and my nephews and some friends.

I can also tell what weather is coming, what store I'm in, and many others things from smell alone.  While I'm sure I'm not the most sensitive person in the world, I do tend to be pretty darn above the curve.

Bound2One -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 4:23:36 PM)

I don't have a very refined sense of smell, thanks to constant sinus issues ... but I do think there are people out there who can detect the scent of arousal on their partner.  I know I adore the way Master smells - I was just telling him on the phone the other day that I wanted to nuzzle his neck and sniff him ... lol.  But I haven't noticed his scent changing when he is aroused.  I'll have to ask him if he's noticed that about me.

I think in order to detect such a thing, one would have to be very much in tune with the other person - I doubt someone in the check-out lane will know that you're horny!

*snorts*  I knew.  Why do you think I was hunching over?

[Gawd, tight jeans are just wrong some days.]

It's absolutely true.

I can do this with other people and it's not limited to my SO.  Depending on the people, I can sometimes tell if they're sick before they start showing symptoms.  If they're taking drugs, even if it's just a round of antibiotics, I can tell.

However, to know that a person is aroused, I'd have to know that individual very well.  Your Sir knows your scent and knows what the subtle changes mean.  Having never met you in person, I wouldn't know you were horny if I sat next to you at the movies or anything like that.  Neither will most other people unless they've been around you when you're turned on as well as when you're not.  And most people don't have a sense of smell as good as mine.

So don't panic.  Just enjoy the bond you have with your Sir.  [:)]

...... but - do it taste like tuna ?

wisteriaV -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 5:44:27 PM)

Yes it is true. Master has a marvelous scent that gets me  in the groove of things. When he is shifting into play or sex mindset his smell changes too. When he isnt its just normal funk...lol

Leatherist -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 6:37:54 PM)

I'm hypersensitive to smells, noise, and various visual things. My acuity is extreme.

I can definitely smell a wet cunt. They usually smell like sweat to me, only more so. It doesn't matter if it's clothed or not-unless it's covered with plastic pants.

SmokingGun82 -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 6:42:07 PM)

My most recent ex had a hyper-sensitive nose. I always thought she was full of shit, which is probably because my own sense of smell isn't impressive. I thought she was picking things up from body language/tone/etcetera, since that's what I do...

But since more and more people I know, followed by numerous people on here (who could really gain nothing from lying), seem to be able to tell things by smell... I might have been wrong about that one.

So no, personally, I can't tell if someone's aroused/lying/etcetera from smell. So if I'm behind you in the supermarket, no worries.

LadyRainfire -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 6:47:20 PM)

My nose is on the sensitive side and can pick up some things that others can't. I used to tease some friends by asking them if they never aired their bedroom out after they had sex and the wife would blush beet reed and stammer about how did I know and the husband would howl in laughter and say that they could never fool me. They're good enough friends that they weren;t offended though some would have been. It's just the way some people are wired, like maybe some have better vision or hearing. Heaven knows considering how bad my vision is, maybe it's a compensation. [:)]

atursvcMaam -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 7:19:33 PM)

It can be noticed, and it does not always have to be moisture. but the body puts out a different aroma when aroused.  i would not let it embarrass you though, it is really very appealing (i think it is at least).

MistressPav -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 7:24:57 PM)

Not sure about humans, but dogs can smell arousal and they can smell fear as well.
Cats can also smell chemical changes in the human body that we are not aware of.

If your Sir tells you that he can smell your arousal, in my opinion, he probably can.  He's probably THAT in tune with you and that's a good thing, yes?  =)
As far as anyone else knowing when you're horny......don't sweat it.

Twicehappy2x -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 7:27:02 PM)

Ummm......how to put this delicately....?

I've walked into the room when you were....um....obviously preoccupied and i never smelled a thing.

And i have a good nose.

But i think Scooter smells delicious but i am the only one who notices because i've asked.

Smythe -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 7:33:31 PM)

It's cool that some people have a specific sensitivity outside of the normal range. some people are incredible at reading facial expression or body language and I guess smell is one of those things. I had a sub who could tell everything about my moods by scent and I could never sneak up on him because he knew when I entered a room even if I was silent and he was blindfolded. I used to try to sneak up on him in a restaurant, and even then, when I walked in, he would look up expectantly and know I was there. It's pretty sexy.

Poetryinpain -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 8:15:23 PM)

My mother had a super-sensitive sniffer, and it was sometimes a curse (think being in the same room with someone who hasn't showered in a couple of weeks). I have not been so blessed, but I do tend to connect certain memories with scents. The smell of Rust-O-Leum puts me right back in the orphanage.

I think it's tremendously romantic and sexy that your Sir has such a connection with you that he can tell when you're aroused by the changes in your scent. I wonder - can he tell even if you're wearing perfume?

pip, going around in my personal cloud of the scent of a perm

Lashra -> RE: The nose knows? (5/3/2008 9:23:52 PM)

Well I know my sub loves my scent and in fact that is one of the first things he said to me when our relationship started. He would sniff the back of my neck and moan softly, curling up behind me happy as could be. Also he loves to lay his head in my lap and do things to get me excited so he can smell my arousal down there.[:D] So yeah I would believe it to a point, I think the scent just becomes stronger when your aroused.
